What you get, and where it stops
This calculator shows what the award says about one shift. Here is what it covers and where your payroll process takes over.
What it does
- Splits one shift into ordinary, afternoon, night, Saturday, Sunday, public holiday and overtime pay lines.
- Applies the casual loading and the award's own casual weekend and holiday rates (175%, 225%, 275%).
- Adds the broken shift and sleepover allowances, and tops a short casual or part-time shift up to the minimum payment (2 hours, or 3 for some social and community services staff not on disability work).
- Names the award clause beside every line so you can look the rule up.
What it does not do
- Does not work out tax withholding, superannuation, leave or payslips, and does not run payroll.
- Does not know your classification level or pay point. You type the base rate from the Fair Work pay guide.
- Does not look up public holidays. You tick a box when the shift date is one, and another when the day after it is one (for a shift that runs past midnight).
- Looks at one shift, so overtime for more than 38 hours in a week is not counted across several shifts here.
If you want the record kept
Splits approved roster hours into SCHADS award pay categories and exports a CSV file for payroll. That is part of Invio Care for NDIS providers with a team. See what each plan adds
The multipliers and allowances this calculator uses
Allowance amounts as at 1 July 2026. The multipliers are percentages of the worker's base hourly rate. Both tables are read from the same code the calculator runs.

How the shift is split
The calculator walks the shift minute by minute on the clock on the wall. A public holiday beats everything else, then overtime, then Sunday, then Saturday, then the afternoon or night loading for a shiftworker, then ordinary hours. Casual and part-time staff are paid for at least 2 hours, or 3 for some social and community services staff not on disability work (Clause 10.5). The unpaid meal break is put in the middle of the first period long enough to hold it; the award does not say where it falls.
What it needs from you
The worker's base hourly rate for their level and pay point, taken from the Fair Work pay guide for the shift date, and whether the shift date is a public holiday where the work is done. The calculator has no state, so it cannot look the holiday up for you.
The award is the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 [MA000100]; Fair Work publishes its full text at awards.fairwork.gov.au.
