Invio Changelog

A clean record of what shipped, what changed, and what got tighter.

Care: a plan for NDIS providers with a team

Care is Growth plus the NDIS support work tools, Xero sync and the claims pack, from A$79 a month including 3 workers.

  • After the 3 included workers you pay A$8 a worker for workers 4 to 10, A$7 for 11 to 30, A$6 from the 31st.
  • You pay for the workers you have. A worker counts from the invite; an invite that expires or is cancelled stops counting.
  • Change to Care from Settings > Billing. You see the exact amount due today before anything is charged.

Add-ons: pay only for the extras you use

Extra businesses, the lead form, Xero sync, the claims pack and extra team seats are now add-ons you put on a paid plan.

  • Settings > Billing has a new Add-ons card. Add or remove an add-on there, or cancel them all. They keep working until the end of the period you have paid for.
  • Add-ons are billed together, monthly, on their own subscription, in the currency of your business. Taking one away is always allowed.
  • Growth includes Projects Pro, so you do not buy it on top.

Mark an invoice as sent without emailing it

For a sale that is already settled, or an invoice that should not go to the client by email, you can now mark a draft as sent. Nothing is emailed.

  • Turn it on in Settings > Invoice Defaults. On a draft or scheduled invoice, choose Mark as sent (no email). The invoice becomes sent and is locked like any other sent invoice.
  • No email goes to your client and no payment reminders are ever sent for it. A repeating invoice cannot be marked this way, because repeating invoices exist to send emails.
  • It counts as sent: towards your monthly invoice allowance on the free plan, and in your sales and GST reports. You can record a payment against it as usual.

Attach PDF receipts to expenses

A supplier's emailed invoice can now be the receipt as it is, as a PDF. No screenshot needed.

  • On Add or Edit expense, choose, drag in or paste a PNG, JPG, WebP or PDF, up to 4 MB. One receipt per expense, as before.
  • A saved PDF shows as a file row with an Open link (it opens in a new tab) instead of a picture.
  • HEIC photos cannot be attached yet: the form says so and tells you what to choose instead. On an iPhone, Settings > Camera > Formats > Most Compatible takes JPEG photos.

Send your Invio invoices to Xero

Connect your Xero organisation and Invio copies the invoices you send, with their payments, into it, so you do not have to key them twice.

  • Settings > Xero sync: sign in to Xero, choose the organisation, and pick the sales account and the tax rates Invio should use. Nothing is sent until you finish the setup, and you can disconnect at any time.
  • Invoices you send from then on reach Xero within a few minutes, with the payments you record against them. An invoice you void is voided in Xero too, when Xero holds no payment against it.
  • Your clients are matched to the contacts you already have in Xero, by email and name, before Invio creates anything. "Match your clients" shows each match for you to confirm or change.
  • Invoices you sent before you connected are not sent on their own, because your accountant may already have them. If you want them in Xero, Invio shows you the open ones, asks Xero which it already has, and sends the list you chose, a few at a time.
  • If Xero refuses something, for example because the period is locked, the sync log says why in plain words and the item waits for you.
  • Invio is an independent product and is not endorsed by, or affiliated with, Xero.

Add your team: staff, admins and your accountant

You can now invite the people you work with into your Invio business, each with their own login and a role that decides what they can do.

  • Settings > Team: the owner invites by email and picks a role. The person signs in, or creates a free Invio account, with that address, confirms it, and joins. The link works once and lasts seven days. You can resend it, withdraw it, change a role or remove someone at any time.
  • Admin runs the business day to day: invoices, quotes, clients, expenses, reports and everyday settings. Not billing, bank details, tax numbers or the team itself.
  • Staff prepare work: they add clients, write quotes and draft invoices. They cannot send anything to a client, record payments, or see totals, reports or settings.
  • Accountant looks at invoices, quotes, expenses, reports and exports, and changes nothing.
  • Growth includes four team seats (admin or staff) and two accountant seats. Pro includes one accountant seat. You do not use a seat yourself. Need more? Email support@invio.co.nz.
  • People switch between their own business and yours from the business menu. Whenever they are in yours, the page says so and shows their role.
  • Removing someone ends their access on their very next click, and nothing they created is lost. If your plan stops covering a role, those people are paused, not deleted, and come back when it does.
  • Settings > Team keeps a list of the last 90 days of changes and who made them.

An API for your own scripts

Create an API token in Settings and your own scripts, a CI job or an automation tool can draft invoices and quotes, add clients, record expenses and read what you are owed. For paid plans.

  • Make a token under Settings, AI connections, API tokens. It is shown once, belongs to one business, and you can revoke it any time.
  • It does what the Invio AI connector does: drafts, client and expense records, revenue and outstanding reports. Invio works out the totals and GST, and nothing is emailed until you call the send endpoint with an explicit confirm.
  • Every send runs the same checks as sending from the app, and is recorded with the token that made it.
  • Curl examples and the full OpenAPI file are in the REST API guide, and the whole thing downloads as one Markdown file to hand to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor.

Optional two-step sign-in with an authenticator app

You can now ask for a 6-digit code from an authenticator app every time you sign in to Invio, on top of your password. It is optional and off until you turn it on.

  • Turn it on in Settings > Account. Scan the QR code with Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, 1Password or any similar app, enter one code to confirm, and you get 10 backup codes to keep somewhere safe.
  • Once it is on, signing in needs your password and a code. That also applies if you sign in with Google, and after a password reset: resetting a password does not switch it off.
  • Each backup code works once, so you can still get in if you lose your phone. We email you whenever two-step sign-in is turned on or off, and whenever a backup code is used.
  • Turning it off needs your password and a current code. There is no SMS, and if you lose your phone and your backup codes, email support@invio.co.nz from the address you sign in with.
  • Turning two-step sign-in on signs out every other device that was logged in to your account. The one you are using stays signed in.
  • If someone keeps typing wrong codes on your account, we email you so you can reset your password.
  • If two-step sign-in is on, changing your password in Settings > Account also asks for a current code.

Your AI assistant can now edit drafts, not just create them

Connected assistants can now copy an invoice, edit a draft invoice or quote, turn a quote into an invoice or bill part of one, cancel a scheduled send, set a draft to repeat, and correct a logged expense. Everything stays a draft until you send it.

  • "Same again for Dave": a copy of an invoice with the next invoice number and today's date.
  • Change the lines, notes, PO number, dates or client of a draft invoice or quote. The totals are worked out again, and a sent document stays locked.
  • Bill a quote in parts, never past what is left on it.
  • Set a draft to repeat. Nothing repeats until you send it.
  • Take a scheduled invoice back to draft, and fix an expense you logged.
  • Offsider, if you use it, can do the same.
  • Your assistant still cannot mark a line GST-free, type in or change an email address, or send anything on its own. It can only move a draft to another client you have already saved.

Your AI assistant can now read your profit and loss, GST figures and what needs chasing

Connect Claude or ChatGPT to Invio and ask "how did I do this quarter?", "what's overdue and can I chase it today?" or "how old is the money I'm owed?". Nine new read-only tools answer from your own records.

  • Profit and loss, by invoice date or by money in and out, with the claimable share of your expenses shown.
  • The figures behind your GST return (New Zealand, GST-registered businesses), what needs your attention today, an aged list of what you are owed, and the Money overview.
  • One client, one quote, your credit notes and, on the Growth plan, your lead-form enquiries.
  • Invoices now also show each payment received.
  • Nothing here can send, change or delete anything, and your assistant is told to treat what enquirers type as text to read out, not instructions to follow.
  • Every tool is also now marked read-only or destructive, so an assistant app can ask you before it runs one that sends an email or changes a sensitive setting.
  • Set it up at /guides/connect-your-ai.

Scan a receipt into an expense

On the Add expense screen, tap Scan receipt, take a photo or pick a PDF, and Invio reads it: the shop, the date, the total, the GST, a suggested category, and every line on the receipt, all filled in for you to check.

  • Nothing is saved until you press Save, and the photo is kept as the receipt.
  • Available on Pro and above: 50 scans a month on Pro, 200 on Growth.
  • A scan that cannot read the receipt does not use one up.

One connector for all your businesses

If you run more than one business on Invio, you can now generate a single connector URL that reaches all of them.

  • When you generate the URL in Settings > MCP > Invio, choose "All my businesses". Your assistant then picks the business by name on each request ("invoices for Acme Gas Fitting") and always says which business it worked on.
  • Connectors you already made keep working exactly as they did, on the one business they were made for.
  • A business with AI features switched off stays out of reach of an all-businesses URL.

GST-free and zero-rated items, for GST-registered businesses

If your business is registered for GST, you can now mark items on an invoice or quote as GST-free (Australia) or zero-rated (New Zealand). GST is worked out only on the items you did not mark.

  • In the invoice or quote editor, choose "Mark items as GST-free" ("Mark items as zero-rated" in New Zealand), then tick the items, or "All items GST-free" ("All items zero-rated"). The link only appears when your business is registered for GST.
  • One invoice can mix marked and unmarked items. Each marked item prints "GST-free" ("Zero-rated") under its description, the totals show the amount on its own row, and a short note under the totals says which items carry no GST. When every item is marked, the invoice shows GST as nil.
  • On a client, switch on "GST-free by default" ("Zero-rated by default"): new invoices and quotes for that client start with every item marked, and you can change any item before you send.
  • The marking appears on the invoice or quote your client sees, in the PDF and in the email.
  • Reports list these sales separately: the tax summary and the financial-year pack, and in New Zealand the GST return figures (zero-rated supplies, Box 6). The invoice CSV export gains a column when some of your invoices have marked items. The Xero and MYOB invoice formats cannot show a mix, so they leave out invoices with marked items and tell you how many.
  • Invio never decides what is GST-free or zero-rated. Offsider, voice invoices and a connected AI assistant cannot mark an item: only you can, in the editor. If a client is set to be marked by default, an assistant's draft for that client takes it and says so.
  • On an invoice that mixes marked and unmarked items, the GST on a part refund is split in the same proportion as the invoice, not item by item.

Support worker invoicing, for Australian accounts

If you invoice participants or their plan managers, you can now switch on support worker invoicing. It adds an NDIS number to each participant, and a date, a unit and an item code to each line of an invoice or quote.

  • Switch it on in Settings, under Business, in Your industry (Invio may also suggest it while you set up). Nothing changes on your invoices until you do. Switching it off again stops the extra fields being offered; what you already saved or sent stays as it is.
  • Each participant can carry an NDIS number, nine digits, that prints under their name on every invoice and quote. On the client form the name field reads "Participant", and the "Send invoices to someone else" section points you to the plan manager.
  • Each line can carry its own date, a unit (hour, km or each) and an item code. The date prints in its own column, the unit beside the quantity and the code in front of the description. A recurring invoice, or a new version, starts with its line dates cleared.
  • Save the supports you use from the NDIA Support Catalogue as a CSV and import them into your saved items: the item number and the unit are read for you. Invio does not bundle the catalogue.
  • AI features (voice invoices and Offsider) stay off for a business with support worker invoicing on, until you turn them on in the same place. Even then, Invio keeps no text of those AI conversations.
  • Before you send, Invio shows a few gentle notes, for example a participant without an NDIS number or a priced line without a date. They never stop you sending. Switching the option on also adds one saved text block, "Supports delivered on the dates shown", which you can edit or delete.
  • Invio does not submit claims, does not check item numbers or prices, and does not decide what is GST-free. If you are registered for GST, you can mark items GST-free yourself - see the GST-free entry above.

New: try Pro at $5/mo for your first 3 months (NZ and AU)

A new NZ or AU signup to Invio Pro now pays $5/mo (NZ$ in New Zealand, A$ in Australia) for their first 3 months, then the normal $19/mo from then on.

  • Applies automatically the first time an eligible NZ or AU account subscribes to Pro - nothing to enter, no promo code.
  • $5/mo for 3 billing cycles, then $19/mo automatically - no separate reminder before the price changes back, so it is shown next to the price everywhere you would see it before subscribing.
  • One offer per account, ever - it does not renew if you cancel and later resubscribe.
  • Already grandfathered on the original NZ$5 rate from before the 1 September 2026 NZ price rise? You keep that rate - this offer is for accounts that were not. AU pricing has never risen, so every new AU Pro signup qualifies the same way.

Meet Offsider - your AI helper that drafts invoices by chatting

Say hello to Offsider - AU/NZ slang for a good helper on site. It is an in-app chat that drafts invoices and quotes for you, on every plan. It only ever drafts - you always review and press send.

  • One violet AI button now covers chat and dictate in a single place - no more hunting for separate buttons.
  • Chat with Offsider to draft an invoice or quote, check who owes you, or ask what is outstanding - it drafts, it never sends.
  • Ask for your numbers - who owes you the most, income by quarter or financial year, GST collected - and Offsider pulls the real figures from your account, never a guess.
  • It can also manage your account by chat - update settings, add or update a saved item, log an expense, or update a client's details. Sensitive changes like your bank details always need your explicit yes and email you the moment they happen.
  • Every plan gets a taste: 10 Offsider chats a month on Starter, 30 on Pro, 200 on Pro AI, and 500 on Growth.
  • See your Offsider usage any time from Settings > AI.

Connect your AI - Claude or ChatGPT can now draft your invoices

Point Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP-capable AI straight at your Invio account. It can draft invoices and quotes and tell you who owes what. Drafting and sending are separate tools, and every send runs the same checks as sending it yourself.

  • Generate a connector URL from Settings > AI (in the Connect your AI section) and add it in Claude or ChatGPT as a custom connector.
  • Your agent can draft invoices, draft quotes, list what is outstanding, check a specific invoice, pull revenue or GST numbers by quarter or financial year, and change a handful of your settings when you ask - including bank details, GST/ABN, region and invoice numbering, which always email you and need your explicit yes first.
  • It can also run the day-to-day for you when you ask - add or update a saved item, log an expense, update a client's details, turn an invoice's reminders on or off, or stop a recurring series - through the same explicit-confirmation rules as everything else.
  • Sending is a separate tool from drafting - there is no combined "create and send" action - and your agent is instructed to show you the draft and ask first. What is actually enforced on every single send, AI or human: valid bank details, a verified email, and room on your plan.
  • Read the full setup guide and safety model at /guides/connect-your-ai.

See all of a client's invoices in one click, and find clients by business name

Click a client's name, then View all invoices, and the list shows only that client's invoices. No more scrolling to find them.

  • A client's quick view now has a View all invoices link under their latest documents. It opens your invoice list showing only that client.
  • A line at the top of the list says whose invoices you are looking at, with a Clear button to see everyone again. Filters, search and sorting still work on top of it, and the Back button takes you back to the client's list.
  • Search on Invoices and Quotes now finds a client by either their business name or their contact name. Before, a client with a contact name could only be found by that name.

Choose how big your logo appears on invoices, quotes and emails

A logo that looked tiny on your invoice can now be made bigger. Pick Small, Medium or Large in Settings > Business, and see it before you save.

  • Settings > Business has a new Logo size choice under your logo: Small, Medium or Large. Medium is the size every account has always had, so nothing changes until you move it.
  • The size applies everywhere your logo appears: the invoice and quote your client opens, the PDF attached to the email, the email itself, and the page where people send you an enquiry.
  • A preview of the top of your invoice shows the size as you choose it.
  • New advice under Upload Logo: a PNG with a transparent background, about 800 px wide, cropped tight. Empty space around a logo makes it look smaller than it is.
  • New Trim empty border button: it shows your logo before and after, and only replaces it when you say so.
  • Your logo now also appears on the quote email (it used to show a letter), on your own quote page and on your own credit note.

A fuller client quick view, a calmer dark mode, and a Money at risk link that always finds your invoices

Clicking a client name now shows what they owe and their latest documents, dark mode has a softer, more readable look, and the dashboard link no longer opens an empty list.

  • Click a client name on Invoices, Quotes or Clients to see what they owe, what is overdue and what they have paid, their five latest invoices and quotes, their full contact details, and buttons to create an invoice or quote or edit the client.
  • Dark mode uses a softer indigo palette, invoice and quote paper stays white with readable labels, and the dashboard tiles fit on small phones.
  • On the dashboard, Money at risk opens your overdue invoices when something is overdue, and your unpaid invoices when everything is only due soon.

Clearer drafts and sending: "Not sent yet", plain reasons when Save & Send waits, and tidier buttons on phones

A walkthrough of the app turned up a handful of places that were confusing. They are fixed: drafts say they are not sent, a blocked send tells you what to do, and the buttons look and behave the same everywhere.

  • A draft invoice now says "Not sent yet" instead of "Awaiting payment", and no longer offers Record Payment. That button appears once the invoice has been sent.
  • If Save & Send cannot send yet because your email is not verified or you have not added bank details, the screen says so plainly and tells you what to do next.
  • After you add your bank details from that prompt, Invio tells you to press Save & Send when you are ready. Saving the bank details never sends the invoice by itself.
  • The getting-started checklist on your dashboard now includes adding your bank account and verifying your email, so you can see what is stopping your first send.
  • The main buttons use one consistent green across the app.
  • On phones, buttons such as Save & Send, Add Client and Import no longer overlap or wrap onto two lines.

Card fees: no surcharge on Australian invoices, a clearer breakdown in New Zealand

Card surcharges have not been allowed in Australia since 1 October 2026, so Invio no longer adds a card fee to what your Australian clients pay. In New Zealand the fee line now shows exactly what it covers.

  • Australia: your client pays exactly the invoice amount by card. Stripe's fee and Invio's 0.5% platform fee come out of your payment, as they already did when you chose to absorb the fee.
  • Australia: the "Pass credit card fees to client" setting no longer applies, so it is hidden in Settings > Payments. If it was switched on, it is simply ignored.
  • Australia: a card payment link your client opened before this change, which still had a card fee on it, is replaced with one for the plain invoice amount the next time they open the invoice.
  • New Zealand: when you pass the card fee on, your client now sees a "Card payment fee" before they pay, with what it covers: Stripe 2.65% + $0.30 and Invio 0.5%. The same wording is on their Stripe checkout and in Settings > Payments, and the fee is rounded down so it is never above that cost.

Dark mode for the Invio app

Choose Light, Dark or System in Settings > Profile (the Appearance card). Dark follows your device by default.

  • Dark applies to the app you work in. Your invoices and quotes, what your clients see, and anything you print always stay light.
  • The choice is kept on the device you make it on, so your phone and your computer can differ.
  • System follows your phone or computer setting.

Clients can accept your quotes online on every plan, plus three quote fixes

The Accept button on a quote your client opens is now there on every plan, Starter included. Three smaller fixes make quotes easier to finish.

  • Starter: your client can accept a quote online, and you get the "quote accepted" email, as on Pro and Growth.
  • If your GST registration changed after you wrote a quote, converting it now warns you before you convert, with both totals. The invoice is still worked out on today's registration; the warning is so you can tell your client.
  • A quote that has expired can be marked as accepted if your client said yes by phone or in person after the date. Open it and use Mark Accepted.
  • When you invoice part of a quote that asks for a deposit, the deposit now shows on the first part invoice as a deposit still due. It stays a request until you record it: if your client already paid it, press Record Deposit so they are not asked for it again.

Safer client deletes and region changes, a way out of a part-refunded invoice, and a warning before you void a paid one

Four fixes for situations that used to leave you stuck or leave your records quietly wrong.

  • Clients: a client that still has invoices, quotes or repeating invoice series can no longer be deleted. Invio tells you how many of each, so nothing is left pointing at a client that is gone.
  • Region: once a business has any invoice, quote or credit note, its region (New Zealand or Australia) cannot be changed, because your reports would add two currencies together. Invio and your AI assistant follow the same rule. To invoice in the other country, set up a separate business for it.
  • Part refunds: after you refund part of a card payment, the invoice used to stay open with nothing you could do about it. You can now record a payment if your client paid the rest another way, or write the rest off. A write-off is shown on the invoice as "Written off", is never counted as money you received, and does not change any GST figure, so ask your accountant about the GST on it.
  • Voiding: if the invoice has money recorded as paid, the Void dialog now says how much, and that voiding does not return it to your client. When you issue a credit note you can also email it to your client. The box is off unless you tick it, every time.

When a plan ends, repeating invoices and reminders now pause instead of switching off, and your AI assistant tells you when it sends

A lapsed plan no longer wipes out your repeating invoices and reminders: they pause, you are told, and they restart by themselves when a paid plan is back. Your AI assistant also leaves a trail when it sends an invoice.

  • If your plan ends, your repeating invoices and automatic reminders are paused, not deleted or switched off, and each one shows why. When the plan is paid again they restart by themselves, from their next billing date. Invoices that fell due while they were paused are not sent later.
  • If your subscription goes unpaid, we email you once, naming the repeating invoices and the reminders that are paused.
  • Voice invoices and Offsider chats are now counted for your whole account, not for each business. A Growth account with several businesses shares one allowance between them. Counting by account starts from today.
  • When an AI assistant connected to your account sends an invoice, or sets one to send on a later date, you get an email naming the invoice, the client and the amount (several sends close together share one email), and we keep a record of it. Switch the connection off in Settings > MCP if it was not what you asked for.

Invoice a quote in parts

On a sent or accepted quote you can now invoice part of it: a percentage of the whole quote, or chosen lines, and see what is left on the quote.

  • Invoice part of it sits next to Convert to Invoice. Each part is a normal draft invoice.
  • The quote shows what has been invoiced and what is left. Voiding a part, or deleting a draft part, gives its amount back.
  • Invoice the rest makes the final invoice for exactly what is left.
  • A part that goes past what is left on the quote is stopped unless you confirm it as a variation.
  • The invoice, its PDF and the print say which quote it comes from and where the quote stands.

Change your password in Settings

Settings > Account now has a Change password form that works. The old one looked finished but pressing Update Password did nothing.

  • Enter your current password and a new one. The form shows what a good new password needs (12 or more characters, with a letter and a digit) and keeps the button off until it is met.
  • Changing your password signs out every other device that was logged in. The one you are using stays signed in.
  • We email you when it is changed, so you know straight away if it was not you.
  • If you signed up with Google and have no password yet, use Forgot password on the sign-in page to set one first.

Your own expense categories, with the share you can claim

Expenses now has a Categories page on every plan. Add your own categories next to the eight Invio started you with, and set for each how much of it you can claim and, if you are GST registered, how GST applies.

  • Open Expenses, then Categories (or Settings, then Business). Add a category, rename or archive one, and set the share you can claim. If you are GST registered you can also set the share of the GST you can claim, or mark a category as having no GST.
  • The percentages are yours to set. Invio does not tell you what share of any kind of spend you can claim: ask your accountant or the tax authority if you are not sure.
  • Each expense keeps the rate it was saved with. Changing a category later only affects expenses you add after that, so your past figures do not move.
  • Your GST return figures use the GST share you set, the tax estimate in the end-of-year pack counts the claimable share of your expenses, and Profit & Loss shows what you spent next to the claimable share. If you never change a percentage, every one of those numbers stays exactly as it was.
  • The expenses export gains two columns, Claim % and GST Claim %, when any expense claims less than all of it.
  • When you log an expense through Offsider, your AI connection or the API, you can name one of your own categories.

We now tell you when an email never arrived

Sometimes a client's mail server turns an email away for a temporary reason, such as a full mailbox or a busy server, and never takes it. Invio now notices when that happens and tells you instead of leaving the email marked as sent.

  • If your invoice email never arrived, you get an email from Invio and the invoice shows that it did not reach your client, so you can resend it.
  • If an automatic payment reminder never arrived, Invio sends it again on its own, up to two more times.
  • Nothing is resent for an invoice that has been paid or voided, or whose reminders you have turned off.

Profit & Loss for any dates

Reports now has a Profit & Loss tab on every plan, in New Zealand and Australia, with two reports behind one switch: Profit & Loss, which counts income when you issue the invoice, and Money in and out, which counts it when the money arrives.

  • Pick this month, last month, this quarter, last quarter, this financial year or last financial year, or type your own start and end dates.
  • Profit & Loss counts the invoices you issued in the period, paid or not, by client, with refunds paid in the period as their own line and a line showing how much of that income has not been paid yet. Drafts, invoices not yet sent and voided invoices are left out.
  • Money in and out counts income when the money arrives, net of refunds, and lists unpaid invoices separately for information.
  • GST-registered businesses see figures excluding GST, with the GST on invoices and on expenses shown alongside and a pointer to Tax & Export for your GST return figures.
  • With more than one business you can report on all of them at once. New Zealand and Australian dollars are shown apart and never added together.
  • Print it, save it as a PDF or download a CSV. Both reports say they are a summary of your Invio records, not a tax return or financial statement, and that tax adjustments such as private use and depreciation are not applied: check the totals with your accountant.

Add travel: a travel line in one click

Billing mileage no longer means typing a whole line every time. Save your rate per kilometre once, then press Add travel on an invoice or quote, type the kilometres, and the line is built for you.

  • Set your rate per kilometre and the wording of the line in Settings, Invoice Defaults, Travel line, and, if your lines show an item code, an item code too. Invio does not suggest a rate: you type your own.
  • Add travel sits beside Add Line Item on invoices and quotes, new and edit, on a phone and on a desktop. It asks for the kilometres, shows your rate (change it if this trip is different) and adds one ordinary line you can edit or remove.
  • Owners and admins can tick Save this rate as my default in the dialog to keep a changed rate.
  • If your lines show a unit, an item code or a date, the line carries km as its unit, the item code you saved with the rate, and the date of the last dated line above it. It takes the same GST treatment as any new line on the document.

Voice invoices can now lay out each day on its own line

If your invoice lines show a date, dictating several days now gives you one line per day, each with its date. Where your lines also show an item code, the code from your own saved item is added too.

  • "Tuesday 3 hours, Wednesday 4 hours" becomes two lines, each with its own date. This applies when your lines show a date (Settings, Invoice Defaults, "Show a date on each line").
  • Invio works the dates out from the day you say ("Tuesday", "yesterday", "14 October"), in your own region's calendar. If a day is unclear, such as "next Tuesday", or falls outside the last three months and the next month, the line is left without a date and you are told.
  • Item codes are only ever copied from your own saved items. Invio does not make one up from what you say.
  • You can change or clear any date or code before you save.
  • Nothing changes for businesses whose lines do not show a date or a code.

Send an invoice to someone else

Some clients are billed through someone else: a plan manager, a property manager, an accounts inbox. You can now send a client's invoices, quotes and reminders there instead.

  • On a client, choose "Send invoices to someone else" and add a name and an email. Every invoice, quote and reminder for that client is emailed there instead. Tick "Also send a copy" if the client should get one too.
  • The invoice still names your client, with a "c/o" line under their name when you gave the recipient a name. The recipient's email address is never printed on a document.
  • If a client is only ever reached through someone else, you can leave the client's own email empty.
  • Existing clients and documents are unchanged. A document you already sent keeps the name it was sent with.

A new free tool: type your sales and purchases and watch the boxes of your GST return (GST101A) work out, ending in GST to pay or a refund.

  • It runs in your browser. Nothing you type is saved or sent, and you do not need an account.
  • In Invio, the same figures come from your invoices and expenses in Reports, Tax & Export.

Invoices and quotes: a date on each line, and a code on library items

Each line of an invoice or quote can now carry an optional service date, and each item in your Item Library can keep a code. A date on a line prints on the PDF, in the email and on the page your client opens.

  • Settings, Invoice Defaults, "Show a date on each line" adds a date box to every line on the invoice and quote forms, and "Duplicate for next day" copies a dated line to the day after. It is off by default, and a date you add is saved with that document, so turning the setting off later does not remove dates already on documents.
  • Each item in your Item Library can carry an optional code of up to 40 characters (Settings, Item Library). The code is kept in your library and shows next to the item in your library and in the suggestions as you type a line, and typing it finds the item. It is not printed on invoices or quotes yet. Importing a price list from Xero, MYOB or a spreadsheet keeps its Item Code, Item Number, SKU or Code column, and two items with the same name are still treated as the same item, whatever their codes say.
  • A date prints only when a line has one, in its own column before the description. A document without dates looks exactly as it did before.

Growth: up to 5 businesses from one login

A Growth account can now have up to 5 open businesses at a time. Archive a business you no longer use and its slot is free again.

  • The business switcher and Settings, Business now show how many of your 5 businesses you are using. At the limit, "Add business" is switched off and tells you to archive one first.
  • Archived businesses do not count. Their invoices, clients and data are kept, and you can unarchive one whenever there is a free slot.
  • If you already have more than 5 businesses, nothing changes for them: you keep every one, and you can switch between them and invoice from them as before. You just cannot add another until you are back under the limit.

Add a reference to a client: an account, policy, student or job number

A client can now carry up to three short reference lines, such as an account number, a policy number, a student number or a job number. They print under the client's details on your invoices, quotes and PDF copies, and on the public invoice page.

  • Open a client (Clients, then Add or edit) and choose "Add a reference". Give each line a name and a value, for example "Account number: ACC-77". You can add up to three per client.
  • The lines print under the client's name, address and phone on the invoice and the quote, on the PDF copy, and on the page your client opens online.
  • A draft shows the client's current references. Once an invoice or quote is sent it keeps the reference it was sent with, so changing the number on the client later does not rewrite what you have already sent.
  • The text of the email is unchanged. The references are on the PDF copy and on the page the email links to.

Money tab and dashboard: Australia gets its 1 July year, and the 1st of the month lands in the right month

The Money tab and the dashboard now cut their months, quarters and financial years at midnight where your business is, and Australian businesses see the 1 July to 30 June year on the Money tab.

  • Australia: on the Money tab, "This financial year" and the GST set-aside figure now run 1 July to 30 June. They were running 1 April to 31 March, the New Zealand year.
  • Anything dated the 1st of a month, a quarter or a financial year was being counted in the one before it, because the cut-off was midnight UTC rather than midnight for you. "This month", "This quarter", "This financial year", the last six months chart and the dashboard's financial-year figures now turn at midnight New Zealand time (Australian eastern time for an Australian business). The dashboard's "paid this month" tile follows that month too.
  • Nothing in your invoices, payments or expenses is changed. Only the period each date is counted in, so a month or year total can move a little if you had something dated on the 1st.

Stuck with your old tool's export? Send us the file and we'll send one back that imports in one click

On the client import page you can now send us an export you cannot get to import, and we email you back a file in Invio's own layout. First-time setup also offers the client import as its last step if you tell us you are moving over.

  • On Clients > Import, open "Stuck with your export?", say where the file came from and send it (a CSV, a spreadsheet or a PDF report, up to 4 MB). We turn it into a file in Invio's own layout and email you when it is ready; a banner on the import page then has one button, "Import it".
  • We never change anything in your account ourselves. You still see every row before anything is added, and you press Import.
  • The file you send is stored privately, can only be read by our team, and is deleted within 7 days of us returning your ready-to-import file, or within 14 days of receiving it if we do not return one.
  • First-time setup: if you say you used Hnry, Xero, MYOB, a spreadsheet or another app before, the last screen, after GST, bank details and invoice numbering, offers to bring your clients over. It is optional and you can skip it.

Moving from Xero, MYOB or Hnry: import your items and rates too

The Item Library can now be filled from your old tool's price list, the same way your clients can.

  • In Settings > Item Library, click Import, say where your rates are now (Xero, MYOB AccountRight, MYOB Business, Hnry or a spreadsheet) and upload the file or paste the list. Excel .xlsx files still need saving as CSV first - the screen says how.
  • You see every row before anything is added: what will be created, what is already in your library, and what could not be read and why. You can change which column is the name, price or cost.
  • Names, descriptions, selling prices, costs and units come across. Items you already have are never changed, so running it twice is safe.
  • After importing your clients you are offered the same step, and the three moving-from guides link straight to it.

Expenses: drag a receipt in, or paste it

Drop a photo of a receipt onto the Expenses page, or paste it, instead of hunting for the file with the browse button.

  • Drag a receipt anywhere onto the Expenses page and Add expense opens with it attached. With the Add or Edit form already open, drop it on the receipt box, or anywhere on the page, and it goes into that form.
  • Copy a photo or screenshot and paste it (Ctrl+V, or Cmd+V on a Mac) while the form is open. Pasting text into a field works as it always did.
  • Photos up to 4 MB, and one receipt per expense: if you drop several, the first is used and you are told. On a phone, tapping the receipt box still opens your camera or files.

Moving from Xero, MYOB or Hnry: import your clients, and carry on your invoice numbers

The client import now reads the files Xero and MYOB really export, and a new box carries on your invoice numbering from the last invoice you sent.

  • Tell the import where your clients are now - Xero, MYOB AccountRight, MYOB Business, Hnry or a spreadsheet - and it shows the steps for getting the file out and reads it that way.
  • Comma, tab and semicolon files all open as they are, and .csv, .txt and .tsv are all accepted (MYOB saves tab-separated .TXT files). Excel .xlsx files still need saving as CSV first - the screen says how.
  • A file with two columns for the same thing, like a postal and a street address or a mobile and a landline, is no longer refused. It uses the postal address and the mobile first, tells you which columns it used, and you can change that.
  • A MYOB client kept as a surname in one column and a first name in another arrives as "First Last". Xero first and last name columns become the contact person.
  • New: "Your last invoice number". Type the number on your most recent invoice (INV-0457, 00000123, 2026-045) and your next invoice carries on from it. It is on the import result screen, in Settings > Invoice defaults and in first-time setup, and it will not go below an invoice you already have in Invio.

Two optional questions when you join, and clearer work types

New accounts are asked, optionally and one tap each, what they used to invoice with and how many invoices they send a month, and the list of work types is clearer. Accounts that joined earlier see the two questions once on the dashboard and can dismiss them.

  • Both questions are optional - skip them, or close the dashboard card, and nothing about your account changes.

Card payments: old payment links, removed receipts, finished refunds and the Australian card fee

A set of fixes to how card payments are recorded and refunded - including what happens when a client pays a link they opened before you recorded a payment, and a lower card fee for Australian clients.

  • A client paying an old link: when you record a payment, void an invoice or refund it, the card payment link your client already has open is now switched off. If a client still gets a payment through (for example Stripe could not be reached to switch it off), the payment is recorded honestly on the invoice and we email you. A voided invoice stays voided - you are told how much to refund from your Stripe dashboard. If the client paid more than was still owed, the invoice shows how much extra to refund.
  • Australia: when you pass card fees on to your client, they now pay only Stripe's estimated card fee (Stripe's published domestic rate, 1.65% + A$0.30), shown on their checkout as "Card fee (Stripe estimate)". Invio's own 0.5% platform fee is no longer added to what they pay - it comes out of your payment instead. New Zealand is unchanged (2.65% + NZ$0.30).
  • Card payments can no longer be removed from an invoice. Deleting one re-opened the invoice and asked a client who had really paid to pay again. To return the money, use Refund. Payments you recorded yourself (bank transfer, cash) can still be removed.
  • Refunds that finish: if an invoice was paid by card in two parts and the second refund fails, asking again carries on with the part that is left instead of saying it is already refunded. A bank or cash payment on the same invoice is only reversed once every card payment has been refunded, so a failed card refund no longer changes your recorded cash.
  • Stripe messages that arrive out of order can no longer restore money that was already refunded, and a refund that reaches us before its payment is applied as soon as the payment arrives.
  • A card payment is now dated the day your client actually paid, not the day Invio finished processing it - so a payment made on the last day of a GST period stays in that period even if the confirmation was slow.
  • The "You got paid" email is now queued and retried if it cannot be sent, and is only marked as sent once it really is. The card payment page now only works from the invoice's own link, and it respects your choice to turn card payments off.
  • Safer exports: a client, vendor or note that starts with =, +, - or @ (for example a client named "=HYPERLINK(...)") can no longer run as a spreadsheet formula when you or your accountant open a CSV. Invoice, expense, client, Xero, MYOB and end-of-year pack exports - and the import problems file - now show such text as plain text with a leading apostrophe. Amounts, including negative ones, are unchanged.

GST and money reports now follow the day the money actually moved

Numbers in your GST and money reports may change for invoices with deposits, part payments, refunds or voids, because they now follow the dates the money actually moved - not the date an invoice was finally marked paid.

  • Part payments count when each one arrives. An invoice paid half in September and half in October now puts half of its GST in September and half in October (before, none in September and all of it in October).
  • A deposit that was received and then refunded no longer leaves income behind. The refund is taken out in the period you gave it, so the deposit shows as money in, then money out.
  • Each refund counts in the period it happened in. A second refund in a later month no longer moves the first one into that month.
  • A refunded card surcharge is no longer taken out of your invoice income or GST - only the invoice part of a card refund is.
  • Cancelled (voided) invoices: on the invoice basis a voided invoice that has a credit note stays in the period it was issued and the credit note takes it off in the period the credit note was issued; a voided invoice with no credit note is not counted at all. Money you actually received on an invoice you later voided is still counted as received.
  • This changes the Tax and Export figures, the GST return (both bases), the end-of-year pack, the Money tab, the dashboard and what your assistant reports. Totals for businesses with no deposits, part payments, refunds or voids do not change. A return you have already filed is not touched, but looking at that period again may show different figures than you remember.
  • Separately, on plans: upgrading an existing Pro or Pro AI subscription now takes effect only once the payment goes through. If the card is declined or your bank asks you to confirm, you are not charged and your plan stays as it was, and you are told so. A subscription Stripe has given up collecting on (unpaid) now drops to the Free plan; one that is only late (past due) keeps working while Stripe retries. Starting a checkout twice at once (two tabs, a double click) now opens one checkout, not two.

Xero connector: profit and loss or balance sheet for several organisations side by side

Ask your AI for a profit and loss or a balance sheet across a group of Xero organisations and get one table: a row per account, a column per organisation, and a total that Invio adds up for you.

  • A new read-only tool, get_xero_group_report. By default it covers every organisation you have connected, or you can name the ones you want. It reads Xero and writes nothing.
  • The total is added up by Invio, not by the AI, so the figure your assistant quotes is the same one you would get with a calculator.
  • One currency at a time. If the organisations you pick report in different currencies, it says so and stops instead of mixing them.
  • All or nothing. If one organisation cannot be read (for example its Xero connection needs renewing), you get no total at all, with the organisation named, rather than a total that quietly leaves it out. Tell your assistant to leave it out and it will run again without it.
  • It is a side-by-side sum, not a consolidation: money owed between your own companies is not cancelled out, accounts are matched by code or exact name only, and there is no currency conversion. For consolidated statements use a tool built for that, such as Joiin, Syft or Fathom.

Payment reminders now carry your PO number and tax number, and you can search by PO number

A reminder goes to the same client about the same invoice, but it used to drop the PO number and your GST / IRD number / ABN that the original invoice email showed. It now carries both, and the Invoices and Quotes lists find a document by its PO number.

  • Every payment reminder - the automatic ones and "Remind" from an invoice - shows the PO number under the invoice number and your tax number with the payment details: your GST number, your IRD number (New Zealand, not GST registered) or your ABN (Australia). It is the same line the invoice email showed. An invoice without a PO number or tax number reminds exactly as before.
  • Search on the Invoices and Quotes lists now matches the PO number as well as the document number, client, status and amount.
  • Fixed: a bank name, account name or invoice number containing an "&" could show as "&" in the payment details of your invoice, reminder and quote emails, and in the preview line some inboxes show beside the subject.

Saving a scheduled invoice as a draft now really cancels the send, and printing fits one page

Save as draft on a scheduled invoice used to save your edits and leave it scheduled, so it still went out on the date. It now cancels the send first. Printing and PDFs also got tighter: a short document prints on one page whatever the shape of your logo.

  • A scheduled invoice has an Edit action. Its save button reads "Unschedule & save draft", cancels the scheduled send and saves your edits in one step, and tells you when the send has been cancelled. It acts on where the invoice stands right now, not on what your tab loaded, so an old tab can no longer save over a schedule you set in another one.
  • If you cancel a scheduled send at the same moment it is due, exactly one of the two happens: either the cancel works and nothing is emailed, or the invoice has already gone and the cancel tells you so ("already been sent"). Sending the same invoice twice at once, or editing it while it is being sent, can no longer email your client the older version.
  • A quote's status can no longer be rewound by an old browser tab or a stale page: only a sent quote can be marked accepted or declined, and Invio stamps the date it was accepted.
  • If an invoice or quote is sent from one tab while you are saving edits in another, the save now tells you it changed instead of quietly overwriting it.
  • The PO number field no longer cuts a long pasted reference short without telling you. It keeps what you paste and says plainly if it is over 60 characters.
  • Printing: a one-line invoice, quote or credit note prints on a single A4 or Letter page, a business logo of any shape prints in a fixed 120 x 72 box instead of pushing the totals onto a second page, and a long business name or an unbroken PO number no longer squeezes the header.
  • A declined or expired quote can be fixed and sent again with "Send again" on the quote page. If its expiry date has passed, set a new one first. A sent quote nobody answers now moves to Expired the day after its expiry date (it is updated every morning), so it can be edited and sent again; nothing is emailed when it expires. Your client can accept a quote all the way through its expiry date, the last day it is valid - in Australia that day ends at midnight in Perth, so no Australian client is cut short. The expiry date in the quote email now always matches the one on the quote page, and if the email cannot be delivered straight away the quote is marked sent and delivery is retried automatically (if it still fails, the quote goes back to Draft so you can send it again).
  • The printed copy your client gets now shows your business name under your logo, and no longer prints the status badge (Sent, Paid) on paper.
  • The due date and issue date in invoice emails, reminders and the email preview now always match the dates on the invoice itself. Before, they could show the day before.

A recurring invoice now pauses if your GST registration changes

A recurring series copies its GST from the day it was set up. If you turn GST registration off, it used to keep sending tax invoices that charge GST, which you cannot do once you are not registered. If you register later, a series set up without GST kept going without it. Now the series holds instead, and tells you.

  • When a recurring invoice falls due and its GST setup no longer matches your current GST registration in Settings, nothing is sent to your client. The series shows "Paused - GST registration changed" on the invoice list and on the invoice, and we email you once with what to do.
  • The invoice that was due is held, not sent - and it is not sent later either. To keep billing that client, stop the paused series and use "New version" to start a fresh one priced under your current GST setting.
  • If the change was a mistake, switch your GST registration back in Settings. The series carries on by itself at its next daily run, from its next billing date. The invoices that fell due while it was paused are NOT sent (they would carry dates and a GST treatment from the gap), and we email you once with the dates it did not send, so you can issue any of them yourself with "New version".
  • It works the same way for New Zealand and Australian businesses, and in both directions: turning registration off, or turning it on.

PO numbers on invoices and quotes, your IRD number as its own line, and a tidier Bill To

A client whose system reads invoices automatically needs the purchase order number printed next to the invoice number, and some clients need your IRD number too. Both now have their own field instead of living in Notes.

  • PO number (optional) is a new field on the invoice and quote forms. It prints next to the document number on the page your client opens, the PDF, your own printed copy and the emails. Left blank, nothing prints at all.
  • A PO number can be changed while the invoice or quote is still a draft. Once it has been sent it is locked like the rest of the document, so check it before you send - to correct one, void the invoice and send a new one. Recurring invoices and "New version" carry the number over, and so does converting a quote into an invoice.
  • New Zealand and not GST registered? Add your IRD number under Settings > Business and it prints as "IRD number: ..." with your business details. GST-registered businesses keep printing their GST number, and Australian documents are unchanged.
  • Bill To (and Quote For) now reads name, address, email, phone - the same order on the public pages, the PDFs and your own screens.
  • The invoice CSV export gains a PO Number column at the end, and the Xero-format export puts it in Xero's Reference column. On the Starter plan, as with Notes, a link cannot go in the PO number.

Pro, Pro AI and Growth no longer carry "Powered by Invio" on your invoices

Client-facing invoices, quotes and credit notes no longer show a "Powered by Invio" line once you are on a paid plan - just your business. Starter still shows it.

  • Applies everywhere the line used to show: the public invoice and quote pages, both PDFs, your own printed invoice and credit-note views, and the invoice/quote/reminder emails your client receives.
  • Nothing to turn on - it follows your plan automatically. Upgrade from Starter and it is gone on the next document; downgrade back to Starter and it returns.

AU clients can now have a state or territory on their address

An Australian client's address had no state, so an invoice printed Bill To as "Marrickville 2204" instead of "Marrickville NSW 2204". You can now add a state/territory to a client the same way you already can for your own business address.

  • Edit a client and, for an AU business, fill in State the same way as your own Business Profile.
  • Shows wherever a client's address already shows: the public invoice and quote pages, both PDFs, your own invoice/quote/credit-note detail views, and the client list.
  • Importing clients from a CSV (Clients > Import) now recognises a State column.
  • NZ businesses see no change at all - there is no state field in a NZ address.

One-off quotes and invoices give the description the full width

When every line on an invoice or quote is quantity 1, as on a lump-sum job where each line is a sentence describing the work, the Qty and Rate columns now come off and the description gets the full width of the page. It is on by default. If you would rather always show both columns, turn off "Hide Qty and Rate when every line is quantity 1" in Settings > Invoice Defaults.

  • Applies everywhere line items are shown: the public invoice and quote pages, both PDFs, your own invoice and quote detail and print views, the invoice and quote emails, and the preview while you are writing one.
  • A document with a real quantity on any line keeps all four columns, exactly as before.

Fixed: long business names and titles clipping off invoices and quotes on phones

On a narrow phone screen, a long business name, a long email address, or the "TAX INVOICE" title next to a status chip could run off the right edge of the card. The header now stacks on phones instead of squeezing side by side, long text wraps instead of clipping, and line items switch to a stacked layout with quantity and rate on their own small line under the description.

  • Applies to the public invoice page, the public quote page, and your own quote detail/print view.
  • Desktop and print/PDF layouts are unchanged - this only affects phone-width screens.

Add an account name to your bank details

Settings > Payments now has an "Account name" field between your bank name and account number, so a client can see the name your account is held under, not just the number - useful for a trust account or any account that is not obviously yours by name alone.

  • Settings > Payments - fill in "Account name" once and it shows on every invoice from then on. It is optional; leave it blank and nothing changes.
  • Shows on the public invoice page, the invoice PDF, the invoice email, and your own invoice detail/print view - wherever your bank details already appear.
  • An invoice already sent keeps the account name it showed at send time, even if you change it later - the same rule your bank name and account number already follow.

Payment reminders now know when a deposit has already been paid

Once an invoice's deposit is recorded as paid, its reminders say so, right above the remaining balance they ask for, so your customer never reads a reminder as a second request for money they have already sent. Invoices without a deposit, or whose deposit has not been recorded yet, get the same reminders as before.

  • Applies to every reminder path - the automatic schedule, the "Remind" button, and its preview - so the preview always shows exactly what will actually be sent.
  • The reminder states the deposit received and the remaining balance in plain numbers, e.g. "Deposit of $30.00 received, $120.00 remaining."
  • Recording a deposit is now one step: on an invoice with an unpaid deposit, the payment button reads "Record Deposit" and opens the same payment form pre-filled with the deposit amount still owed.

The "Total qty" row under the subtotal is now optional

Invoices and quotes with more than one unit have shown a "Total qty" line under the subtotal since June. If you bill hours or mixed units and do not want it, you can now turn it off from Settings.

  • Settings > Invoice Defaults > "Show total quantity on invoices and quotes" - on by default, so nothing changes unless you turn it off.
  • Turning it off removes the row from the public invoice and quote pages, the invoice/quote PDFs, the invoice email, and the in-app invoice screens.

Add scope, terms, or notes as a line with no price

A line item can now be text only - a description with no quantity, no rate, no amount, no GST, and no effect on your totals. Use it for scope of work, revision terms, or turnaround notes right alongside your priced lines, and save the ones you reuse to your item library.

  • On any invoice or quote, add a "Text Line" next to your priced items - it never has a quantity or rate, and it never changes the total.
  • A text line is a deliberate choice, not a priced line someone forgot to price - it never triggers the "No price" warning that exists for that.
  • Your item library now holds two kinds: priced items, and text blocks. Save a text line to reuse it, or insert a saved text block straight into your notes.
  • Clients see it exactly as typed on the invoice or quote page, the PDF, and the email - just the words, with no price column next to it.

Xero connector: try it free for a week, or book a 30-minute demo first

The Xero connector now offers a 7-day free trial - no card needed, up to 2 organisations account-wide, whichever plan you would otherwise pick. It ends on a fixed date, seven days from when you start it; subscribing at any point before or after that date takes over immediately and does not need Xero reconnected. If you would rather see it working before deciding anything, you can book a 30-minute demo instead.

  • Update, 18 September: compare six Xero-native and hosted options, with dated sources and explicit verification limits, at /xero-mcp/xero-native-options.
  • Start your free 7-day trial from the connector's own page - no card, no automatic charge when it ends.
  • The trial covers up to 2 Xero organisations in total across every business on your account, the same cap regardless of which plan you would pick when you do subscribe.
  • It ends exactly seven days after you start it - you get an email reminder a couple of days before, and another once it has actually ended.
  • When it ends it simply stops - you are never charged unless you choose to subscribe, at which point paid access takes over straight away.
  • A "Book a 30-min demo" link sits next to the trial button on every connector page, for anyone who would rather watch it work first.

Your invoice, quote, client and expense lists now load in pages, and search runs on the server

Invoices, quotes, clients and expenses each load a page at a time instead of your whole history at once, and searching, filtering and sorting now run on the server - so the list stays quick to open and quick to search as your history grows.

  • Open any of the four lists and you will see the most relevant page straight away, with a "Load more" button underneath for the rest.
  • Typing in the search box, clicking a filter pill, or changing the sort order now asks the server for exactly that view, rather than filtering everything already on your screen.
  • Nothing about how you use these screens has changed - the same search box, filter pills and sort controls, just faster on a long history.

Xero connector: propose a leave application, or update an employee's contact details

Your assistant can now propose a leave application for one employee, and propose a change to an employee's first name, last name, email, phone/mobile, or home address - held in the same approval queue as every other change this connector can draft, across Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

  • Name the employee, the leave type, and the dates - your assistant works out how many units the leave is worth by asking Xero, never by guessing.
  • New read tool: this organisation's leave types (Annual Leave, Sick Leave and similar) - your assistant checks a leave type is real before proposing it, never invents one.
  • An employee's first name, last name, email, phone/mobile, or home address can now be updated - and only those. Nothing else about an employee can be changed through this connector: not bank details, not a tax number, not pay, rates, or leave entitlements, not a start or termination date.
  • For Australia, phone and mobile are separate fields and both can be set. New Zealand and the United Kingdom carry only one phone field in Xero - your assistant is told to use just one.
  • No new permission to grant - both use the same "Payroll: make changes" permission that already covers every other payroll change this connector proposes.

Xero connector: Australian earnings rates are now readable, and a United Kingdom pay run says up front how it is actually created

Your assistant can now list your earnings rates for Australian organisations too, not only New Zealand and the United Kingdom. And for the United Kingdom, drafting a pay run now says plainly, before anything is queued, that a United Kingdom pay run is generated inside Xero itself, from your pay calendar - not through this connector.

  • Ask your assistant to list your earnings rates for an Australian organisation and it now can, the same way it already could for New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
  • For ordinary hours worked, your assistant still uses each Australian employee's own default rate automatically - the full list is there for the times you need a different one, like overtime or an allowance.
  • A pay run cannot be drafted through the connector for the United Kingdom - Xero's own API has no way to create one there at all. Open Payroll in Xero directly to start one; Australian and New Zealand pay runs are unaffected.
  • A New Zealand or United Kingdom timesheet now needs to cover the employee's whole payroll period, not just the days actually worked - your assistant will ask for the right dates.

Xero connector: New Zealand and UK timesheets can now name their own earnings rate, and a payroll refusal says why

A New Zealand or United Kingdom timesheet can now point at a real earnings rate your assistant looks up itself, and when Xero refuses a payroll change it now tells you exactly what it objected to, not just the bare status code.

  • Your assistant can now list your earnings rates (Ordinary Time, Overtime and similar) for New Zealand and United Kingdom organisations, and use the right one when it drafts a timesheet - Australia already had this covered through each employee's own record.
  • If Xero refuses a payroll change, the reason it gives - which field, and why - now comes through to your assistant and into your approval history, not just "Xero returned an error".
  • A New Zealand pay run draft now matches the shape Xero's own examples use.

Xero connector: record a payment against a bank account that has no code

A bank account in Xero does not always carry a code, most often when it was added straight from Xero's own bank accounts screen. Your assistant can now name such an account by its exact name when it proposes recording a payment, and the account is checked live either way.

  • Give either the account code or the exact account name when your assistant proposes recording a payment - never both, never neither.
  • A bank account with no code now shows as code: null when your assistant looks up your chart of accounts - that is Xero's own honest answer, not a mistake, and it is the sign to give the account's name instead of a code.
  • Whichever way it was named, the same checks still run before you approve it and again the moment you do: it must be a real, active BANK account in Xero.
  • Any active bank account in Xero can receive a payment through the connector. Xero's "enable payments to this account" setting is for non-bank accounts and is not asked of a bank account.

Xero connector: an approved invoice now always has a real account to post to

An invoice your assistant drafts as approved (the default) now always carries a real account for Xero to post it against - either the one it named, or, when it named none, the one account your organisation has for that. Before this, an approved invoice with no account named could be approved in Invio and then refused by Xero itself, with nothing created.

  • If your assistant does not name an account and your organisation has exactly one active revenue (or, for a bill, expense) account, that one is used automatically - and the approval you see says which one and why.
  • If it has more than one, your assistant is told to ask you which one rather than guessing - guessing wrong would post real income to the wrong account with no error at all.
  • An account that is archived in Xero is now refused outright on an approved invoice, not just noted - archiving happens for a reason, and Xero does not promise a write to one will fail cleanly.
  • Still asking to check or edit an invoice in Xero first? Nothing changes there - a draft can leave an account blank exactly as it always could, for a human to fill in later.
  • This is also checked again, live, the moment you approve - if an account was archived in Xero in the meantime, the change is refused rather than sent.

Type a few letters of an address and pick it - for your clients and your own business

Adding a client, or setting your own business address? Start typing the street and pick the match - the rest of the address fills itself in. Works for New Zealand and Australia. Every field stays editable afterwards, and if you would rather just type the whole thing by hand, you always can.

  • Start typing an address line - after a few letters, real matching addresses appear to pick from.
  • Picking one fills in the rest: unit number, suburb/city, postcode, and - for an Australian business - the state. Nothing is locked; every field can still be edited by hand.
  • Available on the client address form and on your own Business address in Settings.
  • Google looks up the address for you; Invio only ever keeps the address you actually chose - not a place id, not what you were still typing.

Xero connector: expired changes leave the queue on their own, and history shows the organisation's current name

A proposed change your assistant never got to in time used to sit marked "pending" forever, and a renamed Xero organisation kept showing its old name. Both are now automatic: an expired change moves itself into history within the hour, and every name shown is the one your organisation is called in Xero right now.

  • A change nobody approved or rejected in time now moves into history as "expired" on its own, within the hour - your assistant already reports it that way immediately when asked what is waiting.
  • An expired change never counted toward the 100-open-change limit, and still does not - only genuinely still-open changes do.
  • If you renamed an organisation in Xero, every change and every history entry now shows its CURRENT name - not the name it had when the change was drafted. Renamed since then? You will see both: "New Name (was Old Name)".

Settings > AI connections > Xero: a quicker page, and approvals moved to their own screen

Settings > AI connections > Xero used to show everything at once - the full approval queue, every organisation, every permission, every connector URL - whether you needed it or not. It is now a short page you scan, with each part collapsed to one line until you open it.

  • Approving and rejecting a proposed change now lives only at /xero-connector, the dedicated daily workspace - Settings shows a single line, "N changes waiting for approval", with one button straight there.
  • Organisations, Permissions, Connector URLs, Team and Danger zone each collapse to a one-line summary - open only the one you came for.
  • Nothing was removed from what you could already do - approve, reject, mint a connector URL, change permissions, disconnect - it is all still here, just not all open on the screen at the same time.

Xero connector: read payroll across Australia, New Zealand and the UK - and draft changes too

Your assistant can now read this organisation's payroll - employees, leave balances and pay runs - for Australian, New Zealand and United Kingdom organisations, and propose a timesheet, a new pay run, or posting one, held in the same approval queue as every other change this connector can draft.

  • Four new read tools: this organisation's payroll employees, leave balances, pay runs, and one pay run's full detail with a comparison against the previous run of the same payroll calendar.
  • Works across all three regions Xero runs payroll for - Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom - the same connection can hold organisations in more than one, and each is read correctly for its own region.
  • Never reads a tax file number, a bank account or a home address for any employee - this connector was not built to see them, not merely told not to show them.
  • Three new draft tools: a timesheet for one employee, a new pay run, and posting an existing draft pay run. Every one only ever queues a pending change - nothing reaches Xero until you approve it in Settings > AI connections > Xero.
  • Posting a pay run is Australia only, and cannot be undone once approved - Xero has no way to move a posted pay run back to draft through its own API. It does not lodge anything with the ATO, IRD or HMRC, and does not pay anyone - that stays entirely outside this connector, on whatever process this business already uses.
  • Payroll read and payroll write are permissions you choose separately, both off by default - tick "Payroll, read only" first; "Payroll: make changes" only becomes available once you do.
  • Not built yet: applying for leave on an employee's behalf, and editing an employee's own details - named here as a gap, not left as a silent omission.

Xero connector: you choose which permissions to grant, before you connect

Connecting Xero used to ask for one fixed set of permissions. Now you pick which ones to grant on a checklist before Xero's own consent screen ever appears - and you can change your mind at any time afterwards, without disconnecting or losing your organisations.

  • Invoices, credit notes, quotes, manual journals, reports and projects are still ticked by default - untick any of them if your assistant does not need it.
  • Recording payments and reading payroll data stay off unless you turn them on, exactly as before - now you choose that up front, on the same checklist, instead of a separate settings toggle after connecting.
  • New: payroll write access - draft timesheets and pay runs and post a pay run, every change waiting for your approval like everything else. Off by default, and only tickable once payroll read access is ticked too - a posted pay run cannot be reversed through Xero's own API, so this one asks for read access first on purpose.
  • "Change permissions" in Settings > AI connections > Xero reopens Xero's consent screen for your new selection - your connected organisations and connector URLs are untouched.
  • If your assistant asks for something outside what you have granted, it now names the exact permission it needs and tells you where to add it - not just "reconnect Xero".

Xero connector: read payments, and record one against an invoice

Your assistant can now see who has paid an invoice, and propose recording a new payment against one - held in the same approval queue as every other change. Unlike everything else this connector can draft, a payment has no in-between "draft" state in Xero: once you approve it, it applies immediately.

  • One new read tool: list payments already recorded in Xero, filtered by status, invoice or date.
  • One new draft tool: propose recording a payment against an AUTHORISED invoice, for an amount up to what is still owed. It only ever queues a pending change - nothing reaches Xero until you approve it.
  • Payments is a permission you choose, separately from everything else - tick it when you connect Xero, or add it later from Settings > AI connections > Xero. A connection that has not ticked it simply cannot record payments until you do.
  • Because a payment has no draft state in Xero, both the invoice and the bank account are checked live twice - once when your assistant drafts it, and again the moment you approve it - so a figure that has since gone stale is caught before anything is written.
  • A recorded payment can only be reversed from inside Xero itself, by deleting it there - this connector has no tool for that, and says so before you approve one.

Xero connector: read and draft quotes

Your assistant can now read Xero quotes and draft new ones - the same approval queue every other write in this connector already uses. No new permission was needed: the scope this connector already holds for invoices and credit notes covers quotes too.

  • Two new read tools: list quotes filtered by status, contact, quote number or date, and pull one quote's full detail including line items, title, summary and terms.
  • One new draft tool: propose a new quote for a contact. It only ever queues a pending change - nothing reaches Xero until you approve it in Settings > AI connections > Xero.
  • Xero's own "SENT" status is available if you ask for it, but it is only an internal label in Xero - this connector still cannot e-mail or deliver a quote to anyone, at any status.
  • Quotes get their own currency and tax-inclusive controls, the same as invoices and credit notes, so "quote them $1,500 including GST in USD" works the way you would expect.

Xero connector: approval e-mails are now a daily digest

If you draft several Xero changes in one session, Invio now sends at most one approval e-mail per person per day, listing everything waiting for review, instead of one e-mail per change.

  • The first change after a quiet day still e-mails you straight away, and that e-mail lists every change currently waiting, not only the newest one.
  • Further changes within the same 24 hours do not send another e-mail; they show up in the next digest and, as always, in Settings > AI connections > Xero.
  • The "expires soon" reminder shares the same once-a-day budget and lists every change that is about to expire.

Xero connector: you can now approve or reject a change right in the chat

Your assistant can now approve or reject a proposed Xero change itself, in this conversation - but only once you have clearly said to. It works the same way asking it to send an invoice already does.

  • Say "approve that" (or "reject it") and your assistant can do it there, instead of you having to open Settings > AI connections > Xero yourself - but only after you have said so in your own words. It will not infer approval from context, and never approves speculatively.
  • It still shows you what it is asking about first, so you know exactly what you are agreeing to before you say yes.
  • Approving works exactly the same way underneath, whichever path you use - the same change, the same real write to Xero, the same record of what happened.
  • Settings > AI connections > Xero is unaffected and still there - approving or rejecting in chat is an extra way in, not a replacement for it.
  • Rejecting can carry a reason if you give one, but Invio does not currently store or show it anywhere - your assistant may mention it back to you, it is not recorded against the change.

Delete, archive and convert confirmations no longer depend on the browser's native dialog

Deleting a draft, a client, a quote or an expense, archiving a saved item, converting a quote, and unlocking a sent invoice for editing now ask in Invio's own dialog - not your browser's built-in confirm popup, which some browsers can silently start ignoring after a few in a row.

  • Every one of those confirmations now shows the same in-app dialog, naming what you are about to act on and what it does.
  • Nothing about what happens on confirm has changed - only how you are asked before it does.
  • Cancel, or pressing Escape, always backs out with nothing sent.

Xero connector: correcting journals, GST on them, and your real financial year

Your assistant now reads a date like "9/8" the same way on a credit note and a journal as it already did on an invoice, can put GST on a correcting journal at all, and knows when your financial year actually starts instead of assuming January.

  • A date like "9/8" is now read the same way everywhere - credit notes and journals get the same treatment invoices already had, and your assistant still tells you which way it read it before you approve.
  • A correcting journal can finally say whether its amounts include GST. Fixing a GST miscoding is the most ordinary reason to raise a journal, and until now there was no way to say it.
  • Ask for "this financial year" and you get YOUR financial year. Your assistant reads the year end you set in Xero - 30 June, 31 March, or whatever you actually use - instead of quietly answering with the calendar year.
  • If your year end is not set in Xero, it says so and asks, rather than guessing January to December.
  • Nothing changes for what you were already doing: say nothing about tax on a journal and it behaves exactly as it did before.

Xero connector: approving an invoice in Invio can now be the only approval you give

Approving a proposed invoice used to leave a draft sitting in Xero that you still had to open, give a due date, and approve all over again. Now you can have it arrive in Xero already approved, with a due date worked out from your own payment terms.

  • Ask for an ordinary invoice and it now arrives in Xero as APPROVED, ready to send - one approval, in Invio, instead of the same one twice.
  • It still never emails anything to your customer. Sending stays something you do yourself in Xero, exactly as before.
  • Say you want to check it in Xero first and it is drafted there instead, which is what always used to happen.
  • Due dates are no longer left blank: leave one out and your own default payment terms from Xero are used, and the approval card tells you which terms those were and what date they produced.
  • If your Xero organisation has no default payment terms set, your assistant now asks you for a due date instead of quietly leaving it empty.

Xero connector: approving in Invio is now the only gate, by default

Earlier today, asking your assistant to check a status was enough to skip the second approval in Xero. Now you don't even have to ask - leaving status unsaid does the same thing.

  • Say nothing about status and your invoice now arrives in Xero already APPROVED - one approval, in Invio, is the default, not something you have to ask for.
  • Still want to check or edit it in Xero first? Just say so - your assistant will draft it there instead, exactly as it always could.
  • If no due date can be worked out (no date given, and your organisation has no default payment terms), your assistant is stopped and asked to get one from you, instead of quietly drafting something with no due date - this can now happen even when you didn't ask for a status.

Xero connector: say which currency, and whether the price already includes GST

Ask your assistant for "$1,500 including GST", or for an invoice in a currency other than your organisation's usual one, and it can now draft exactly that. Before, it quietly drafted the amount as GST-exclusive, in your usual currency, without telling you.

  • "Draft an invoice for $1,500 including GST" now means what it says - your assistant tells Xero the amount already includes the tax, instead of adding GST on top of it.
  • You can ask for an invoice in another currency ("invoice them in NZD"), as long as your Xero organisation is set up for that currency.
  • If it is not set up for that currency, your assistant says so and tells you which ones you do have - it never quietly swaps in your usual currency for the same number.
  • The draft waiting for your approval now spells out which way the amount was meant, so you see it before you approve rather than after.
  • Nothing changes for the invoices you were already drafting: say nothing about either, and it behaves exactly as it did before.

Xero connector: remove one organisation without disconnecting everything

Connected more Xero organisations than your plan allows, or connected the wrong one by mistake? You can now remove just that one from Settings > AI connections > Xero, instead of disconnecting your whole Xero connector.

  • Each connected organisation now has its own Remove button, next to "Disconnect Xero" for the whole connector.
  • Removing an organisation cancels any of its queued changes still waiting for your approval, and your assistant immediately stops being able to reach it.
  • If the organisation was paused for being over your plan's limit, removing it frees that slot for another one.
  • You can always reconnect it later with "Connect another" - removing is never permanent on Xero's side.

Import your clients from a CSV file

Clients now has an Import button - upload a CSV exported from MYOB, Xero or a spreadsheet, check the column mapping and preview, and add everyone in one go.

  • Invio recognises the column headers Xero and MYOB export by name and suggests a mapping automatically - you can still edit it before anything is imported.
  • A preview shows exactly what will happen to each row - will be added, already a client, or has a problem and why - before you commit to anything.
  • A client with no email address can still be imported; you will just need to add one before you can send them an invoice.
  • Safe to re-run: importing the same file twice never creates the same client twice, so if something interrupts the import, uploading it again picks up only what did not go through.

A GST return figures view, so you are not hunting for two numbers at filing time

Reports > Tax & Export now has a GST return figures card - GST on sales, GST on purchases, and what you owe or are owed, for whichever period you actually file for.

  • Set your filing frequency (monthly, two-monthly, six-monthly) and accounting basis (payments or invoice) once in Settings > Business - or leave them unset and Invio assumes IRD's own defaults, and says so on screen.
  • Pick the real period you are filing for from a list of actual closed periods, each with its own due date.
  • Download the invoices and expenses for exactly that period as CSV, ready to check against your own records.
  • This is a summary of what is in Invio, not a filed return and not tax advice - anything invoiced, spent or paid outside Invio is not included.
  • NZ only for now - GST is an NZ concept, Australia files a BAS instead.

Invio now spots a line item you forgot to price

If a line item has a description but no price, Invio marks that row and says so right beside Save & Send - before the invoice reaches your client short by a line.

  • A line with a description and no price gets a "No price" marker on the row itself, so on a long invoice you can see which one, not just that there is one.
  • The message sits next to Save & Send rather than down under the totals, so it is still on screen at the moment you send.
  • It only ever warns. A deliberate no-charge line - a warranty callback, a freebie alongside paid work - still sends exactly as you intended.

Payment reminders now come with a PDF attached too

Every payment reminder - automatic or the ones you send by hand - now attaches a PDF copy of the invoice, the same PDF your invoice already gets on the first send.

  • Every reminder you send, and every automatic one, now attaches a PDF copy of the invoice. Nothing to turn on, no extra click.
  • The PDF reflects the invoice exactly as it stands right now - so if you correct a due date, the latest reminder always carries the correct one.
  • The link inside the email still works either way - if a PDF cannot be built for some reason, your reminder still sends.

Quote emails now come with a PDF attached too

Every quote you send now attaches an actual PDF file as well as linking to it online - the same PDF copy your invoices already get.

  • Every quote you send now attaches a PDF copy automatically. Nothing to turn on, no extra click.
  • The PDF carries your business details, every line item, your deposit if you set one, and your notes and terms.
  • The link inside the email still works either way - if a PDF cannot be built for some reason, your quote still sends.

Every invoice email now comes with a PDF attached

Invoice emails used to only link to the invoice online. Every invoice you send now attaches an actual PDF file too - ready to save, forward, or print - no more asking your client to generate one themselves.

  • Every invoice you send now attaches a PDF copy automatically. Nothing to turn on, no extra click.
  • The PDF carries your business details, the TAX INVOICE heading when you are GST-registered, every line item, and your bank details for payment.
  • Recurring invoices generated automatically each billing cycle get the same PDF attached, not just the ones you send by hand.
  • The link inside the email still works either way - if a PDF cannot be built for some reason, your invoice still sends.

NZ prices are rising on 1 September 2026 - if you are already with us, your rate does not change

From 1 September 2026, new NZ signups pay more: Pro moves to NZ$19/mo, Pro AI to NZ$29/mo, and Growth to NZ$49/mo. Subscribe before then and you keep your current rate for as long as you stay subscribed.

  • This only affects NEW NZ signups from 1 September 2026. If you are already on a paid NZ plan before that date, your rate does not change while you stay subscribed - see the "Flat, fair pricing" promise on /about.
  • New NZ prices from 1 September 2026: Pro NZ$5 -> NZ$19/mo, Pro AI NZ$12 -> NZ$29/mo, Growth NZ$29 -> NZ$49/mo.
  • Australian pricing is not changing.
  • Update, 19 August 2026: this protection now covers every NZ account that exists before the flip, not just people already paying. If you signed up before the flip, you keep today's rate whenever you choose to subscribe - even months later, and even if you cancel and come back. No need to rush an upgrade before the date above just to lock in the rate.

You will know the moment a client accepts a quote

The public quote page has always told your client "the business has been notified" the instant they accept - but nothing was ever actually sent to you. That is fixed: accepting a quote online now emails you straight away.

  • The moment a client accepts a quote on its public page, you get a short email with the quote number, the client's name, the amount, and a link straight to it in Invio.
  • It fires exactly once per quote, even if the client double-clicks Accept or reloads the page afterwards.
  • Turn it off any time from Settings > Email, right next to the existing "Email me when I get paid" toggle.

Your business details now print where they should - phone, BSB and state

A round of fixes to what your invoices, quotes and emails actually say about your business. Most of these came from Australian customers reading their own documents and telling us what was missing.

  • Settings > Business has a new Business Phone field. It prints on your invoices and quotes and goes into the email your client receives. The phone in Personal Details is your own and stays private.
  • Australian invoices and quotes now print the state in your address, and Australian bank details print the BSB next to the account number on your own printed copy - it was already on the copy your client sees.
  • Your quote now carries the same business details as your invoice: trading name, phone and email. Your printed copy used to say less about you than the copy your customer got.
  • The invoice email carries your address and phone, and its buttons now do what they say: View online opens the invoice, Print / Save PDF opens the print dialog straight away. Previously three buttons all went to the same place.
  • When you print or save a PDF, your payment details and notes no longer split across two pages.
  • Credit notes can now be printed or saved as a PDF, so you have something to send the customer when you cancel an invoice. Quotes got a Print / PDF button on your own copy too - previously only your client could print one, from the link you sent them.
  • Saved PDFs are named after the document (INV-0042.pdf, QTE-0007.pdf, CN-0003.pdf) instead of whatever the browser tab happened to be called.

Terms of Service updated - a fairer guarantee clause, and an honest promise about changes

We rewrote two parts of the Terms of Service. The consumer-guarantees clause now only applies if you are genuinely buying Invio for a business, not because a form said so. And we stopped promising to email you about changes we do not actually email you about.

  • The Consumer Guarantees Act clause used to say it never applies, full stop, just because you agreed to the Terms. It now only applies if you are actually acquiring Invio in the course of a business - if that is not you, your consumer guarantee rights are unaffected either way.
  • The "Changes to Terms" section no longer promises an email we do not send. Updates are published on this page with a new "Last updated" date, and a significant change may also be flagged in the app - this changelog entry is an example of exactly that.
  • Both changes apply to the New Zealand and Australian versions of the Terms - see /terms for the exact wording.

Attach a receipt to an expense any time, not just when you create it

A receipt photo used to be a one-shot thing - only addable the moment you logged the expense. Editing a past entry now lets you attach one for the first time or swap it for a better photo.

  • Editing any expense now shows the same receipt photo field as creating one - attach a photo to an old entry that never had one.
  • Already have a receipt on file? Replace it with a new photo any time, straight from the edit screen.
  • The old photo is only removed once the new one is safely saved - a failed upload never costs you the receipt you already had.

GST-registered businesses now see TAX INVOICE on their own printed copy

Printing or saving a PDF from inside Invio used to say INVOICE no matter your GST status - only the public link your client opens got it right. Both now agree, and the underlying GST rate, currency, and heading are kept in step wherever an invoice can change.

  • Printing or saving a PDF from inside Invio (the Print / PDF button on an invoice) now titles the document TAX INVOICE when your business is GST-registered, and INVOICE when it is not - it never showed TAX INVOICE from in-app before, regardless of registration.
  • Editing a draft or scheduled invoice after switching your business between New Zealand and Australia now moves the GST rate, the currency, and the tax-invoice heading together, so the amount and the label on one document can never disagree.
  • The same fix applies to draft quotes: editing one after a region switch now moves its GST rate and currency together too, instead of leaving the rate label stuck at the old region.
  • Cloning a recurring invoice into a new version now carries its currency and GST-registration status with it, instead of quietly resetting to New Zealand regardless of the original.
  • A GST-registered business's invoice that happens to carry zero GST no longer has its GST number silently stripped from the copy your client sees.
  • Australian businesses now see ABN on their invoices, invoice emails, and the email preview - wherever a GST registration number would have printed instead.
  • Recurring invoices generated automatically each billing cycle now carry their template's currency and GST-registration status too, the same fix already applied to manually cloned recurring invoices.
  • A quote your client has already accepted, or that has already become an invoice, can no longer be rewritten with a different price after the fact.
  • Australian businesses no longer see a "GST Number" field in Settings, on an invoice while it's being drafted, or on the send-readiness checklist - GST registration in Australia lives entirely on the ABN, which is what those places point to now.
  • The public quote page your client opens now shows ABN instead of GST number for Australian businesses, matching invoices.

A clearer panel when Save & Send is not ready yet

The panel that appears when an invoice cannot send yet - an unverified email or a missing bank account - has been rebuilt. It says exactly what is blocking, lets you fix it on the same screen, and never shows a code box that could not possibly work.

  • Entering your verification code is now six boxes instead of one field - paste the whole code straight from your email, or let your phone or browser autofill it in.
  • If your email address is bouncing, the panel says so plainly and drops the code box entirely - a code that can never arrive was never worth asking for - and shows the reason your mail server gave, when we have one.
  • Hit the code limit (5 new codes or 10 checks an hour) and the panel now names the exact time it opens again, instead of a vague message to wait a bit.
  • Needing both a verified email and a bank account no longer means two separate messages - one panel walks you through both, in order.
  • The three cards on the side of New Invoice - Email preview, Recurring invoice, Automatic reminders - now lead with what is actually happening, so a state like Reminders are disabled reads first instead of being crowded out.

A proper setup when you join, and you can now fix your own email address

Signing up now walks you through the things that actually matter - GST, bank details, invoice numbering - and skipping any of them is a real button, not a trap. And if you typo your email address at signup, you can finally fix it yourself.

  • New accounts now get asked about GST registration, bank account, and (for Australian businesses) ABN right after signup, instead of those settings sitting undiscovered in Settings.
  • Every question can be skipped with one tap, the same size as the main button - nothing about saving a draft or sending an invoice is ever blocked by a question you have not answered yet.
  • Verifying your email is now the first step, with the code box built into the page instead of a separate popup - skip it, and the same code box is waiting for you the moment you try to send.
  • Typo your email address when you signed up? You can now change it yourself from Settings > Account, with a fresh code sent to the corrected address - no more being locked out of your own account by one typo.
  • The kind of work you told us about is now saved to your business, not thrown away after your first invoice - it sets up every new invoice for you, not just the first one.

Reports now count refunded invoices correctly

A refunded invoice was being dropped out of your reports entirely instead of just having the refund taken off. If you have ever issued a refund, your income and GST figures were too LOW - they will go up when you look today.

  • Refunding an invoice - even a small partial refund - used to make that invoice disappear from every income report for its whole original amount, not just the part refunded. That is fixed: reports now count the money you actually kept, and show the refund as its own line so nothing moves silently.
  • Fixed on Reports > Tax & Export, the EOFY pack and its printed statement, the Money tab, and the dashboard tax card.
  • The refund is counted against the year or quarter it happened in, not the year the invoice was originally paid - so a year you have already filed is never rewritten.
  • If you have never refunded an invoice, nothing on your reports changes.

Australian businesses now get full tax reporting, not a placeholder

Reports > Tax & Export, the dashboard tax card and the EOFY pack were hidden or disclaimed for Australia. They now show the real thing: ATO income tax brackets, the Medicare levy, BAS quarters and a 1 July - 30 June year, in Australian dollars.

  • Reports > Tax & Export is open for Australian businesses, with a real income tax and Medicare levy estimate where there used to be a locked tab.
  • Download EOFY pack now works for Australia too - the printed accountant statement, the quarterly breakdown and both CSV registers all use the Australian financial year and figures.
  • The dashboard tax estimate card shows a real number for Australian businesses, with the Medicare levy broken out, instead of "coming soon".
  • Every remaining bare dollar sign on invoices and quotes is fixed - the create and edit forms, the invoice list and detail page, and CSV exports (which now carry a Currency column) all show the right symbol.
  • Dashboard totals and credit notes for Australian businesses show A$ throughout too, closing the last spot still counting in New Zealand dollars.

Australian quotes and invoices now show A$, not a bare dollar sign

Quotes carry the currency they were written in, and the pages your client actually sees now print it. An Australian quote reads A$, a New Zealand one reads $, and an old quote keeps whatever it was raised in.

  • The quote page your client opens, your own quote list and quote detail, and the quote email all show the currency the quote was raised in.
  • The public invoice page - the one a client pays from - had the same gap and now shows the right currency too.
  • Currency is taken from the quote itself, not from your settings today, so changing region later never rewrites the amount on a quote you already sent.
  • Still on the list: the in-app invoice list and invoice detail, and the create and edit forms, where amounts are shown without a currency symbol.

The EOFY pack's quarterly tax estimate now counts your expenses

The quarterly Est. tax column was worked out on income before expenses, sitting right next to a headline estimate that already subtracted them. Both sides now use the same basis.

  • Each quarter's estimate now subtracts that quarter's expenses, on the same GST basis as the headline figure below it.
  • A quarter where you spent more than you earned estimates zero tax, never a negative number.
  • The four quarters still will not add up to the yearly figure, and the statement now says so plainly: each quarter is estimated as if it were a whole year of income, which is how tax brackets work, not a mistake.
  • This is a New Zealand tax estimate and stays an estimate - your accountant has the last word.

Separate terms and privacy policy for Australia

Australian customers were reading New Zealand legal pages. There is now a proper Australian version of both, and the New Zealand ones were brought up to date at the same time.

  • The Australian terms carry Australian Consumer Law rights, prices in Australian dollars, and who you are actually buying from, instead of New Zealand consumer law that does not apply to you.
  • The Australian privacy policy has its own complaints process, and both policies now name the countries your data is processed in and the other services that handle it.
  • Both policies now explain what happens if there is ever a data breach.
  • The terms had also fallen behind the product and only described the Pro plan - Pro AI and Growth are now properly covered by the billing and cancellation clauses.

Reports > Money now shows money in vs money out

See what you earned, what you spent, and what is left - side by side with the previous period - without exporting anything to a spreadsheet.

  • A new card on Reports > Money shows Money in, Money out, and what is Left over for the period you have selected, next to the change from the period before it.
  • GST-registered businesses see both sides ex-GST, since GST collected and paid was never really your money - unregistered businesses see the full amount, matching what actually moved.
  • Works the same on the NZ and AU sites - the financial-year total lines up with your own tax year, and figures show in your business's own currency.
  • This is a money-in/money-out view, not a tax calculation - the Tax & Export tab still has the real NZ tax figures.

Business Settings now accepts a plain website address

Typed your website as "yourbusiness.co.nz" instead of "https://yourbusiness.co.nz"? Invio now accepts that - and if a save is ever blocked, it tells you exactly which field to fix.

  • The Website field in Settings > Business now accepts a plain domain like "yourbusiness.co.nz" or "www.yourbusiness.co.nz" and adds https:// for you automatically.
  • If a save is blocked, Invio now names the exact field and reason instead of a generic error, and scrolls you straight to it.

Getting started is now a guided checklist

New accounts get a short checklist on the dashboard - business name, first client, first draft, send - so the path to your first invoice is never a guess.

  • The dashboard shows exactly what is left before your first invoice is sent, with each step ticked off as you go.
  • Added a client or started a draft and then got busy? Invio sends one reminder email pointing straight back to what you started - never more than once.
  • The checklist disappears for good the moment your first invoice goes out.

Know when your invoice actually lands

Invio now tracks delivery of your sent invoices - see Delivered or Opened right on the invoice, and get an alert the moment an email bounces so you can fix it and resend.

  • A Delivered or Opened chip appears on the invoice list and invoice detail as soon as your email provider confirms it (Opened is best-effort - some mail apps preload images).
  • If an email bounces or is blocked, you get an alert email plus a banner on your dashboard and a callout on the invoice itself - no more finding out weeks later that your client never saw it.
  • Fix the address and hit Resend straight from the invoice once you know it did not arrive.

One tax picture across all your businesses

If you run more than one business under the same IRD number, Tax & Export and the EOFY pack can now show them combined. Plus a heads-up before you hit the $60,000 GST registration threshold.

  • Mark each business as part of your personal tax group or its own separate legal entity in Settings > Business - a Ltd company keeps reporting on its own.
  • Tax & Export and the EOFY pack can combine every personal business into one report, so your numbers match what actually goes on your GST return and IR3 (NZ-region businesses).
  • New reminder for NZ-region businesses: once your rolling 12-month invoiced total gets close to the $60,000 GST registration threshold, Invio tells you on the dashboard and in Tax & Export - before you cross it, not after.
  • New step-by-step guide at /guides/register-for-gst-nz walks through exactly how and when to register for GST with IRD (NZ).

Your end-of-year pack, ready for your accountant

Reports > Tax & Export now has a one-click EOFY pack - a summary statement plus invoice and expense registers for your accountant, free on every plan.

  • A print/PDF summary statement: total income, GST collected, expenses by category, a quarterly breakdown, and an estimated tax set-aside.
  • Two CSV registers - every non-draft invoice and every expense for the financial year - ready to hand straight to your accountant.
  • Defaults to your last completed financial year (1 Apr - 31 Mar), with a picker for the current year or any prior year that has data.
  • NZ-region businesses only for now - free on Starter, Pro, Pro AI, and Growth.

See exactly what is left on your Starter plan

Settings > Billing now shows a Plan & usage block for Starter accounts - three meters for the things that matter most, so you always know where you stand before you hit a limit.

  • Invoices this month, automatic reminders used, and active recurring series - all in one place, updated live.
  • Each meter shows exactly how many you have left, with an Upgrade to Pro button appearing the moment you use one up.
  • Pro accounts do not see this block - nothing to track once the limits are gone.

Get a "You got paid" email the moment an invoice is paid

Invio now tells you the moment a client pays - by card or however you record it yourself - and shows you when a reminder helped get you there.

  • A "You got paid" email lands the instant an invoice is paid in full, with the amount, the client, and how it was paid.
  • When a reminder went out shortly before the payment, the email and the invoice page both show it - honest correlation, never a claim of cause.
  • On Free plans, an attributed payment includes a quiet note that Pro chases every invoice automatically.
  • Turn the email off any time from Settings > Email - it is on by default.

Free plan: try auto-chase reminders and recurring invoices

Starter is no longer all-or-nothing on the two features that matter most when an invoice goes unpaid. Try automatic reminders on your first few invoices and run one recurring series, free.

  • Your first 3 invoices, ever, can have automatic payment reminders switched on - no upgrade needed.
  • Run 1 recurring invoice series free, with unlimited billing cycles on it - a second series at the same time is a Pro feature.
  • The reminder toggle shows exactly how many free auto-chased invoices you have left, so there is never a surprise.
  • Once your first 3 are used, reminders stay switched off for new invoices until you upgrade to Pro, which chases every invoice automatically.

Take control of your recurring invoices

You can now stop a recurring series when a client is done, start a fresh version to change the details, and see at a glance whether a series is still active.

  • Stop a recurring series in one tap when the job ends - the current invoice stays exactly as it is, only future invoices stop.
  • Active and Stopped badges on the invoice list and detail page, so you always know which series are still billing.
  • Start a new version of a recurring invoice to change the price, items, or schedule - it opens as a fresh draft you can edit before it goes live.
  • Voiding an active recurring invoice now warns you first and cleanly stops the schedule, so a series never keeps billing by accident.

Archive a business you are no longer using

Closed one of your businesses? You can now archive it instead of deleting it - your records stay intact and the clutter disappears.

  • Archive a business from Settings > Business - it disappears from the business switcher and your active lists.
  • Recurring invoices and automatic reminders for an archived business pause automatically, so nothing goes out by mistake.
  • Nothing is deleted - unarchive at any time and everything, including the schedule, picks up where it left off (your tax records stay safe).
  • Available on Growth, where you can run more than one business.

Recurring invoices bill on the right day, every time

Recurring series now bill on the date you set and stay on that day every cycle, and every invoice created from a series is clearly marked.

  • A recurring series now anchors to its Issue Date - set it to bill on the 1st and it stays on the 1st, month after month, instead of drifting to whenever the system happened to run.
  • Every invoice generated from a series carries a "From recurring series" badge in the list and on the invoice, so you can tell auto-generated invoices apart at a glance.
  • Each generated invoice is dated to its real billing day, not the day the system woke up to create it.

Preview and personalise your emails before they send

You can now see the exact email your client will receive before it sends, and personalise both the subject line and the message with the new Edit text option.

  • Preview the exact invoice or reminder email before it sends - see the real layout, your branding, and the payment details your client will see.
  • Edit the subject line straight from the preview - set it to whatever reads best for your client.
  • Tap Edit text to write your own message. On reminders you can reword the whole message - perfect for a softer note to a good client - and a character counter shows how much space you have left.
  • All the invoice details, payment links, and bank info stay locked, so nothing important can be deleted.

Dictate an invoice - AI drafts it, you review and send

Voice-to-invoice is now live on Pro AI. Hold to record, say the job out loud, and Invio drafts the invoice for you to review before sending. The classic form stays - voice is an optional shortcut.

  • Tap and hold the "Voice invoice" button on the new invoice screen to record your voice memo.
  • Invio listens and drafts the invoice - client, line items, GST treatment - from what you said.
  • You see the full draft before anything is saved or sent. Edit, confirm, or discard as normal.
  • Only a successful, non-empty draft uses one of your monthly allowance (Free 3 / Pro 10 / Pro AI 100 / Growth unlimited).
  • Mistaps, empty recordings, and AI errors do not count against your allowance.
  • Voice-to-invoice is available on Pro AI ($12/mo) and Growth. Free and Pro users get a taste of the feature with their monthly allowance.

New Pro AI plan - the AI tier for sole traders

Pro AI is a new plan at $12/month, sitting between Pro ($5) and Growth ($29). It is the home for all AI features as they ship - starting with voice-to-invoice.

  • Pro AI ($12/month) includes everything in Pro - unlimited invoices, recurring billing, payment reminders.
  • Adds 100 voice invoices per month: dictate the job, AI drafts the invoice, you review and send.
  • As more AI features ship (AI chaser drafts, receipt scan, and more), they land on Pro AI first.
  • Pro AI sits below Growth - it does not include the lead-capture widget or multi-business switcher.
  • Upgrade from the Pricing page or from the voice invoice prompt inside the app.

See how your business is doing - money first

A new Money tab on the Reports page gives you a clear picture of what you earned, what came in, and what is still owed - broken down by month, quarter, or financial year. Free on every plan.

  • Earned, received, and owed at a glance - pick this month, this quarter, or the current financial year and the numbers update instantly.
  • Who owes you: a list of every client with money outstanding, sorted worst-overdue-first with status chips, every row links straight to the invoice - plus a one-tap "All unpaid" shortcut and a new Unpaid filter on the invoices list.
  • Top 5 clients by money received this period, so you can see where the work is really coming from.
  • Six-month received trend with month-on-month change - spot a slow month before it becomes a problem.
  • GST set-aside estimate card for GST-registered businesses: a rough "set aside ~$X for GST (FY to date)" figure, clearly labelled as an estimate - not tax advice.
  • Money reports are free on every plan, including Free - no upgrade needed.

Reports and Expenses - one consistent look

The Reports and Expenses pages have been restyled to share one design language, making both pages easier to scan and use.

  • Consistent cards, stat tiles, list rows, and chips across both pages - Reports and Expenses now feel like they belong together.
  • Clearer tabs sit directly under the page title on both pages, making it obvious which view you are on.
  • Expenses got category colour chips, a receipts count card, and a cleaner add-expense modal.
  • This update is visual only - nothing about how the app works has changed.

Track expenses and snap receipts - free for everyone

Invio now has a built-in expense logbook. Snap a photo of the receipt, log the expense in seconds, and have everything stored safely for year-end tax - free on every plan.

  • A new Expenses section in the app: record the amount, vendor, date and an optional note, then attach a photo of the receipt straight from your phone.
  • Built-in expense categories - materials, tools and equipment, fuel and vehicle, subcontractors, insurance, phone and internet, software, and other.
  • GST aware: mark an expense as GST inclusive and record the GST portion, so your numbers are ready when tax time comes.
  • Running totals and filters by financial year and category show exactly where the money went.
  • Export your expenses to CSV in one click - perfect for handing to your accountant.
  • Expense and receipt capture is free on every plan, including Free - not a paid add-on.

See exactly which invoices make up your financial year

Reports now show the individual paid invoices behind your financial-year totals, not just the aggregate numbers.

  • A new "Paid invoices" table on the Reports page lists every invoice paid in the selected financial year, with client, date paid and amount.
  • Each row links straight to the invoice, so you can check the detail without hunting through your invoice list.
  • Works with the financial-year selector - switch years and the table follows.
  • The invoice CSV export on this page follows the selected financial year too, so what you see is what you export.

Run multiple businesses from one login

Growth plan users can now add and manage multiple businesses from a single Invio account, with a quick switcher to jump between them.

  • Add extra businesses from the Business Switcher in the sidebar - enter a name and click Create. Each business gets its own invoices, clients, bank account, and branding - completely separate from your other businesses.
  • Switch between businesses in a tap using the Business Switcher in the app sidebar - no need to log out and back in.
  • Separate bank details per business mean the right account number goes on the right invoice, every time.
  • Each business can carry its own logo and display name, so client-facing documents always reflect the correct entity.
  • Multi-business is a Growth plan feature ($29/month). Existing Free and Pro accounts keep their single business as normal.

Take a deposit before you start the job

Ask for a deposit upfront and collect the balance later - built for bigger jobs where you want money down before the work begins.

  • Add a deposit to a quote (a percentage or a fixed amount). Your client sees exactly what is needed to get started, right in the quote and the email.
  • When the quote is accepted and turned into an invoice, the deposit carries across automatically - deposit due now, balance on delivery.
  • You can also request a deposit directly on an invoice for jobs that skip the quote.
  • Clients can pay the deposit by card (if you have card payments on), and the invoice clearly shows "Deposit paid" with the balance still to come - no more guessing.

Refunds, the easy way - plus payment-method control

Refund a payment without leaving Invio, and choose exactly how your clients can pay.

  • Refund a card payment straight from the invoice - the money (and Invio's fee) goes back to your client via Stripe.
  • Took a bank transfer or cash? Record a manual refund so your books stay straight - you return the money, Invio marks it down.
  • Refunded invoices are clearly labelled "Refunded" everywhere and locked so they can't be accidentally changed.
  • New payment-methods setting: choose whether invoices show bank transfer, card, or both.

Get paid by card, straight from your invoice

Your clients can now pay invoices online by card. Powered by Stripe, the money lands directly in your own account, and the invoice updates itself the moment it is paid.

  • Connect your Stripe account from Settings, then a "Pay by card" button appears on every invoice you send.
  • Payments go straight to your account - Invio takes a small 0.5% platform fee on successful card payments, on top of standard Stripe processing fees.
  • Choose whether to absorb card fees yourself or pass an estimated card surcharge on to the client, shown clearly at checkout.
  • Invoices mark themselves paid automatically once payment clears, and both you and your client can see the payment was made by card and when.
  • Redesigned invoice and reminder emails: a clearer layout, your branding, and a prominent pay button when card payments are switched on.

Capture new enquiries with your own lead form

Invio can now turn website visitors into quotes. Share a hosted enquiry page or embed a form on your own site, and every enquiry lands as a client and a ready-to-send draft quote.

  • A new Lead Widget tab in Settings gives you a hosted form at your own link, plus a one-line snippet to embed the same form on your website (it resizes itself to fit).
  • Choose which questions to ask - name, email, phone, job description, service type, preferred date, budget, and an optional photo upload.
  • Each enquiry automatically creates or matches the client and drafts a quote prefilled from their answers, so you can review and send in seconds.
  • You and the customer both get an email: a tidy lead notification for you, and an optional auto-reply confirmation for them.
  • Built-in spam and bot protection (rate limiting, hidden honeypot, and timing checks) keeps junk enquiries out without adding a captcha for real customers.
  • The public form has a premium, trust-first redesign with a clean upload area and your business branding - and stays unbranded when embedded on your own site.
  • Lead capture is part of the new Growth plan.

New Growth plan for businesses that want more

Invio now has a Growth plan at $29/month, sitting above Pro, starting with the new lead-capture widget.

  • Growth ($29/month) unlocks the Lead Capture Widget on top of everything in Pro.
  • Upgrade prompts now point Pro users to Growth in the right places, with a clear Growth badge on your account.
  • After you upgrade, your new plan now activates immediately - no need to log out and back in.
  • Billing now shows the correct price for your active plan instead of always showing the Pro price.

A money-first dashboard

The dashboard has been redesigned around the numbers that matter most - what you are owed, what is overdue, and what to do next.

  • A new command bar puts your key money figures and quick actions front and centre.
  • Outstanding and overdue amounts are easier to read at a glance, with clearer next steps.
  • The layout is calmer and works consistently across desktop and mobile.

Emails now look like they come from your business

Invoices, quotes, and lead notifications now carry your business identity, and replies reach you directly.

  • Outgoing emails now show a "{Your business} via Invio" sender name, so clients recognise who it is from.
  • When a client replies, the reply now goes to your business email - with a choice between your business or personal address.

Clearer recurring invoices and smoother invoicing

Recurring invoices are easier to spot and manage, plus a round of small fixes from customer feedback.

  • Invoice lists now show which invoices are recurring, with a badge and the next send date, and the manage link goes to the right place.
  • A new filter lets you see just your recurring invoices.
  • Non-GST-registered users now get a clear prompt explaining how to set up GST when it is relevant.
  • Several recurring-invoice and email rough edges reported by customers have been smoothed out.

Void invoices instead of deleting them

You can now void sent, paid, or overdue invoices. NZ tax law requires keeping invoice records for 7 years - voiding replaces deletion and keeps your records compliant.

  • Void button on any sent, paid, or overdue invoice - add an optional reason when voiding
  • Voided invoices are hidden from your main list but visible under the new "Voided" filter tab
  • Draft invoices can still be permanently deleted
  • Compliant with NZ Tax Administration Act 1994 s.22 (IRD 7-year retention)

A cleaner, refreshed look across Invio

Invio has a new, more consistent visual style across the dashboard, invoices, quotes, and clients. Nothing about how the app works has changed.

  • A refreshed colour palette with a calmer primary tone and a clearer dashboard layout.
  • The sidebar now clearly highlights the page you are on, with a consistent look on desktop and mobile.
  • Invoice and quote screens, forms, and public pages now share one consistent style, while paid and accepted states stay clearly marked.
  • Buttons, badges, status cards, and inputs now use one unified design across the app.
  • This update is visual only - your invoices, quotes, clients, payments, and settings are unchanged.

Fractional invoice and quote quantities

Invoices and quotes now support decimal quantities for partial hours, small units, and split service work.

  • Quantity fields on new and edited invoices now accept decimal values such as 0.5 or 1.25.
  • Quote quantity fields now use the same decimal-friendly controls as invoices.
  • Server-side invoice and quote validation now accepts quantities from 0.01 upward and recalculates line totals before saving.
  • Invoice and quote storage validation now matches the decimal quantity rule instead of requiring whole numbers.

Safer invoice emails and public payment links

Invoice emails, reminders, recurring invoices, and public payment links now have stronger server-side safety checks.

  • Invoice emails, manual reminders, and automatic reminders now require valid resolved bank details before any email is queued.
  • Recurring invoice automation now skips safely if current bank details are missing, without consuming the next invoice number or creating a child invoice.
  • Draft invoice and quote public links now stay hidden, even if the draft already has a public ID internally.
  • Public card payment checkout now only starts for payable issued invoices, not drafts or already-paid invoices.

Invoice sending now checks bank account details first

Draft invoices now stop before email send if the current business bank account number has been removed or is invalid.

  • Send Invoice now uses the latest Settings → Business bank account state before queueing the client email.
  • Draft invoice pages show a required readiness item when the bank account number is missing, and the send action stays disabled until fixed.
  • Invoice emails and bank snapshots now use the formatted, validated account number captured at send time.

First invoice flow is faster for new accounts

New users can create the missing client and keep finishing their first invoice or quote without leaving the form.

  • Invoice and quote forms now include Add new client here, with a quick modal that saves and preselects the client immediately.
  • New invoice and quote forms now show a send-readiness card for email verification, business details, bank details, and GST number gaps.
  • Client and line-item requirements are validated inline before a create request is sent, avoiding late API errors for first-time users.
  • The mobile create screens no longer show the global invoice floating action button on top of their own sticky actions.

Better sorting and filters for invoices and quotes

Invoice and quote lists are easier to scan when you need to find work by client, date, amount, or status.

  • Invoice tables now support sorting by number, client, date, due date, amount, and status.
  • Invoices now include smart filters for not delivered, partially paid, needs reminder, and balance overdue work.
  • Quote lists now have a desktop table, mobile cards, sortable columns, and filters for expiring soon or accepted quotes waiting to be converted.
  • Client names in invoice and quote lists now open the client profile drawer without taking you away from the list.
  • Mobile invoice and quote lists now include compact sort controls so the same workflow is available on smaller screens.

Card payments early access is getting ready

Invio is preparing a careful Stripe Connect rollout for businesses that want clients to pay invoices by card.

  • A dashboard early-access card now lets businesses register interest in card payments without needing an existing Stripe account first.
  • Eligible accounts can start Stripe-hosted setup from Business Details, with a clearer loading state while Stripe opens.
  • Connected businesses can offer card payment on public invoices through Stripe Checkout while bank transfer remains available.
  • Card-fee copy now uses a domestic-card estimate and notes that international cards or currency conversion can cost more.

Clearer GST number editing from invoices

Invoices now point you to the right place when the GST number needs correcting.

  • Invoice detail and invoice editing screens now explain that the GST number comes from Business Details.
  • A direct Edit GST number link takes you to Settings → Business Details instead of leaving you to hunt through the invoice form.
  • If GST is being charged but no GST number is set, Invio now calls that out inside the invoice view.

Clearer account safety before upgrading and sending

New accounts now verify their email before Pro checkout or customer-facing sends, and Billing makes the active account clearer.

  • New signups receive a 6-digit email verification code while still keeping signup low-friction.
  • A verification banner now gives users an obvious place to send or enter the code inside the app.
  • Verification-required accounts can explore Invio, but must verify before upgrading to Pro or sending invoices and quotes.
  • Billing now shows which account email and business the subscription action applies to, reducing confusion when a business has multiple accounts.
  • The Pro upgrade button now says Upgrade this account to Pro and shows the email the $5/month subscription applies to.

Cleaner invoice line items and email preview

Long item descriptions are now easier to write and review before sending an invoice.

  • Invoice and quote item descriptions now use a taller text box, so longer work details wrap naturally instead of forcing sideways scrolling.
  • The email preview no longer shows an invoice status badge in the preview header, keeping the card focused on the email itself.
  • The preview now renders the same invoice email template used for real sends, so there is one source of truth.
  • Long item descriptions in the real email now wrap down with a separate Qty / Rate / Amount summary, so invoices stay readable on narrow screens.
  • Save Draft and Save & Send now disable together to prevent double-clicks, but only the action you clicked shows a loading spinner.

Automatic reminders now have a global invoice default

You can decide whether new invoices start with automatic reminders on or off, without losing per-invoice control.

  • Reminders in Settings now includes an automatic-reminder default for new invoices.
  • Turning it off means new invoices start with reminders disabled, so clients are not nudged unless you choose it.
  • Each invoice still keeps its own reminder controls, so you can manually enable reminders for the jobs that need them.

Item library for repeat products and services

Reusable line items now make repeat invoices and quotes faster without silently changing your GST or totals.

  • Save common products or services from invoice and quote line-item search, then reuse them with description, rate, unit, and usage tracking.
  • Manage item library is available from invoice and quote flows, plus Settings, with a dedicated mobile-friendly library page.
  • GST stays controlled by the invoice or quote settings; saved items do not apply a second tax mode.

Overdue partial-payment status now stays truthful

Partially paid invoices now keep the payment truth visible while still showing when overdue balance remains.

  • Invoice detail and public invoice views now show Partially paid with an overdue balance cue when money is still outstanding.
  • The invoices list keeps the full invoice total visible instead of silently swapping the amount column to remaining balance.
  • Smoke coverage now locks the overdue-partial wording so it cannot drift back unnoticed.

Legacy open invoices no longer pretend they are fully paid

Stored zero balances on non-paid invoices are now cross-checked against derived payment truth before the UI treats them as settled.

  • Record Payment stays available on legacy invoices that still have collectible balance.
  • Derived balance now wins when old stored payment fields are inconsistent.

Gentler in-app feedback prompts

Feedback requests now appear only on calmer app surfaces and respect shorter Ask me later vs longer Dismiss cooldowns.

  • Added a permanent Send feedback entry in the app shell footer.
  • Prompting now depends on account age, usage signals, and recent feedback activity.
